Sheets retired the last 16 batters in order. The Brewers have the best record in baseball since May 20th.

now that the game's over
lets talk about laynce nix.
posters are coming out of the woodwork to talk in that thread;)
Not bad
Sheeters getting it done… most people say why keep him in he could get hurt, Yost is over using him… I say as long as he is healthy and effective, keep him in the game and use him all the time you
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
Quick game
2 hours and 14 minutes. I want more!

now that we're over .500
and have + run differential, do you think the power rankings will reconsider us?
I know we have to demonstrate that we can win consistently on the road, but the same applies to the cubs and just about every other NL team.
by PagsBrewCrew on Jun 23, 2008 8:32 PM CDT up reply actions
Exactly
Those power rankings are useless. I think we are the second best team in the NL right now. Maybe the Phillies are better but if so not by much. As for the Cards all their injuries are really hurting them. We can re-evaluate their position after they get Pujols and Co back.

well...not only him
cbs, espn, mlb.com and everywhere I checked doesn’t bother having us in the top10.
by PagsBrewCrew on Jun 23, 2008 8:41 PM CDT up reply actions
Do we really care what CBS, ESPN, MLB.com, and everywhere else you checked think of us?
He's extremely quick and good.
i'm guessing not?:P
still would be nice for recognition. But I guess I don’t mind rooting for the underdog.
by PagsBrewCrew on Jun 23, 2008 8:44 PM CDT up reply actions
I don't care about being the underdog or the favorite
The best part about “stats” is not having to rely on the opinions of random crusty sportswriters to form an idea of how good teams and players are—you can do it yourself.
He's extremely quick and good.
Seems like the pictures of the crusty sportswriters on a lot of those sites look like thirty somethings. I’d think the crusty old beat writers think its a gimmick to fill space and air time.
I don't really care how old they are
Witrado is probably around my age (twenties), and he’s plenty crusty. The guy is just a clone.
He's extremely quick and good.
Well I wouldn’t compare a guy who is new at being a beat writer to a guy who has been following baseball for decades.
I just did
Deal with it. Witrado writes like he’s trying to emulate the same crap-spewers who have been spewing crap for decades.
He's extremely quick and good.
You can compare anything you want. Like I said, the “power rankings” seem to be written by relatively young people and not old beat writers. Not sure how any of that has to do with Witrado or how he cause you distress.
Where did I say that the "power rankers" were old?
I said they were crusty. My point is that you don’t have to be old to have reactionary opinions.
He's extremely quick and good.
I assume you’ve seen this from Interactivegangbang.com
One of my favorite lines in a long time: from Junior of FJM:
that is a creepily precise, photorealistic representation of exactly what I look like and exactly what I’m doing right now. How did he do that? The skateboard, the purple jeans, the Chucks, the beaded necklace, the KRAZY Red Sox cap, the waggling tongue, the psycho-killer eyes—THIS IS WHAT I DO WHEN I BLOG!
i love that picture
seriously….
by pasting the URL into my browser I could go there.
That’s one of the best illustrations ever.

I'm excited
He seems to be remembering how to pitch with mediocre stuff.
He's extremely quick and good.
Excited
Either he’ll pitch well or DiFelice will get a chance to continue his streak of not walking guys. It’s win-win.

That's good
I was worried that we were starting to hit TOO MANY homers. We have to start manufacturing some runs.
Ichiro, on facing Daisuke Matsuzaka for the first time: "I hope he arouses the fire that's dormant in the innermost recesses of my soul."
But they unclog the bases
So they do have one use.

Is it possible
to have an interactive gang bang of one? Maybe you should explain the Buzz rules to her.

A request to one of you big brain types
Has anyone ever tested the theory that a team benefits in subsequent games because they chased the starter early? BA was going on and on about this tonite, how it bode well for the Brewers over the next few nites but I have my suspicions that this could be another baseball myth.
Well, Buddy Carlyle pretty much took the hit for the Braves, so I think that BA was saying that it's now a moot point
I don’t know of any studies on the subject, though.

hey cool
our record is now good enough for 1st place in any of the other NL divisions (yeah, yeah, if we were playing in the east MAYBE we wouldn’t have such a great record)
and in fact, our record would be good enough for first in our old division the AL Central. Not quite good enough for our old, old division (AL East) or super-duper old division (AL West in year 1)
Maybe we would have a better record
The central is home to a lot of good teams. Even teams like the pirates and reds are below .500 but have played a tough schedule.
by dixieflatline on Jun 23, 2008 9:51 PM CDT up reply actions
not far below .500 either
The currently worst NL Central team’s record is just 3 games behind 3rd in the East and 1 game behind 2nd in the West. Meanwhile they’re 7.5 games out of 3rd in the Central.
yep
i agree
note the MAYBE in all caps above. Basically I was saying you could argue it one way or the other, but with the central doing the best, we’re being held back from an even better record;)
who knows how we’d fare in the AL East though:P

I feel guilty about it
But I’ve been trying to get him to grab things with his left hand.
Coffee is for closers
all that says is that
people born with lefthandedness are likely to have slightly shorter lives. it does not speak to training yourself to be unhanded.
nature vs nurture and all that.

Speaking as a lefty
It’s not that I’m clumsy, it’s that every time an ‘emergency’ occurs my first instinct is to react with my left hand. Since most of the stuff I’m reacting to(car, chainsaw, lawn mower etc) are designed for the right hand to control operations I’m wasting a few precious seconds that someday may bite me in the a$$. So I got that going for me.

cool
I have it in mind to teach any offspring of mine to become ambidextrous pitchers, seeing as my wife is ambidextrous and I always loved baseball growing up…

He gave up a two-run homer in the 4th
He still has a 5/0 K/BB on the night, which is extremely encouraging considering control was supposed to be his weakness. Third-round pick Logan Schafer also hit his first HR.
He's extremely quick and good.
Final line
5.7 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 7 K, 1 HR
Very encouraging.
Erik Komatsu with his first pro homer as well.
He's extremely quick and good.
And he's up to 7th in the order, too.
Not that that’s much better. Meanwhile converted pitcher Brock Kjeldgaard gets to hit cleanup? Whoah.
drunk, i am
and loving the winning ways, but if you are in your 30s and have a punk rock leaning too you, check this out.
Because I always wondered what a bad Misfits cover band would sound like if its lead vocals were shared by Shakira
Man, Danzig is a total nutjob. The whole naked torso/wolves/battle axes thing can be over now, thank you. I’m gonna go listen to "Astro Zombies".
He's extremely quick and good.
Oh thank god
I googled it, thinking it must be fake, and just got other people saying “How can this be real?” I guess if I wasn’t drinking too, I would have taken that as a sign that it wasn’t, but I instead felt empathy.
The battle axes comment stands, however.
He's extremely quick and good.
