Turnbow

It looks like he didn’t do that bad this time.

Coffee is for closers

by drezdn on Jun 24, 2008 8:15 AM CDT   0 recs

Not terrible

Of course, AAA hitters can’t really hit him; the only issue is the control. One walk, but he did throw a pitch to the backstop with a runner on second that, for some unknown reason, the batter swung at.

Not too bad for Frederickson

Too many hits and walks, but it looks like he got out of his jams and missed some bats.

by Oakland Brewer Fan on Jun 24, 2008 10:51 AM CDT   0 recs

He didn't walk anyone

That’s the key—he was supposed to have control problems, but he’s got a 14/2 K/BB in his first two starts.

He's extremely quick and good.

Eric Fry(er)

His link doesn’t go to the right place on MinorLeagueSplits.

yeah

same bug for a long time.

I don’t have a simple way to fix it, and the not-simple way of fixing it is WAY down my todo list.

Also, cheese.

prioritize longer regexp matches over shorter?

Maybe do an initial match for the line/division and then start at the right of the string and work back?

http://www.perlmonks.org/?node_id=371722

3. Maximal (greedy)

With any normal quantifier (ie any of ? * + {1,3}), the engine will first try to match the greatest number of iterations permitted (or the most available if that is fewer than permitted), and try to match the rest of the pattern against the rest of the string. Only if the rest of the pattern fails to match will it try matching one fewer iteration, and repeat until the minimum permitted number is reached.

Example:

($match) = "/foo/bar" =~ m[./(.)];
print $match;
.. prints "bar": the engine tries to match the initial .* against "/foo/bar", then "/foo/ba", then "/foo/b", then "/foo/", then "/foo". At this point the remaining pattern matches, so this is the match returned.

okay...that was ugly

With any normal quantifier (ie any of ? * + {1,3}), the engine will first try to match the greatest number of iterations permitted (or the most available if that is fewer than permitted), and try to match the rest of the pattern against the rest of the string. Only if the rest of the pattern fails to match will it try matching one fewer iteration, and repeat until the minimum permitted number is reached.

Example

($match) = ”/foo/bar” =~ m[./(.)];
print $match;

.. prints “bar”: the engine tries to match the initial .* against ”/foo/bar”, then ”/foo/ba”, then ”/foo/b”, then ”/foo/”, then ”/foo”. At this point the remaining pattern matches, so this is the match returned.

How soon before Choate is brought up?

Not that they need him, but if the choice was him or Gagne I’m going with the guy that has yet to suck this year.

by Getting Yosted on Jun 24, 2008 1:43 PM CDT   0 recs

No clue

I do know, though, the Gagne is set to make two rehab starts (tonight and Thursday) before they bring him back.

Featured Poll

Poll
Who is the Brewers' top prospect?
  • Brett Lawrie - Cana-DUH!
  • Mat Gamel - A great pure hitter who could potentially play a position of need.
  • Alcides Escobar - The Brewers sorely need his defensive wizardry and contact-hitting approach. He also solves the 3B hole by shifting J.J. over.
  • Jonathan Lucroy - The best catching prospect in the system by virtue of the fact that he can actually catch. His hitting numbers at Brevard are very good on the face of it, but even better after accounting for Space Coast Stadium.
  • Angel Salome - He's leading a Huntsville team that's loaded with prospects in all three slash stats, and he has the tools to be a good defensive catcher.
  • Jeremy Jeffress - The only real pitching prospect in a sea of hitters, Jeffress could potentially ease the pain of losing two aces by blossoming into one himself.
  • Carlos George - Hey, Derek Jeter can't play defense either.
