5-1 Orioles

Cubs haven’t lost at home in over a month.

The best part

From the front of Jsonline

Dave Bush gave up just four hits and seven innings and the Brewers sscored four runs in the first three innings thanks to the help of four Atlanta errors as the Brewers held off the Atlanta Braves

Yeah

A really good pitcher wouldn’t give up 7 innings. That puts him at a flat 7.00 Earned Inning Average, which is flat out unacceptable.

by Jordan M on Jun 24, 2008 8:56 PM CDT up reply actions   1 recs

nah, I think that's a 9.00 EIA

He did give up those 7 innings in 7 innings.

That sentence makes me wonder...

Which two teams were playing again?

Wow, they went from really annoying Saturday morning kids show ripoff commercials to bizarre indie music commercials.

Road records

Brewers: 18-21
Cubs: 16-20

more road records

Holy crap, only five teams in the majors have a positive road record right now?! (And two barely so, Yankees at 19-18 and A’s at 17-16.)

Something I didn't note about Jeffress before

He had a 10/2 GO/AO ratio. Very nice.

4 straight road wins now, too

If I’m eyeballing it correctly, that’s the first time since June 13-16 last year. The last time prior to that was way back in 2004, June 26 to July 1st (5 game winning streak!).

Close

I believe they haven’t swept a 3 game series on the road since June 29-July 1, 2004 in Colorado. They swept a 2-game series in Pittsburgh to start 2005.

Lee grounds into fielder's choice

Rooster Ramirez singles in another run 7-5. Its like blood in the water. Anybody on the Orioles got some avocados?

Seems like something's wrong with Marmol

I of course don’t want anyone to be hurt or anything, but if he inexplicably lost his command for the next month or so I would not be sad about it.

bk, if you're around

Zack Jackson and Hernan Irabarren have merged in the 40-man roster widget on the left side there, they’re on the same line- you might want to fix that up a bit.

Can Blanco succeed...

Where Corky Miller failed? Backup catcher pride is on the line.

The season has become too weird

First Bill Hall is brought in as a defensive replacement for someone, and now the Cubs use Henry Blanco as a pinch hitter. I expect Armando Benitez to be called into a one-run, bases-loaded, no out jam soon enough.

C. Magruder scored, R. Weeks to second on balk

But all they could find in the Wrigley Field storerooms were old newsreel projectors.

Braves fan game recap

Let’s see: 3 errors in the 1st inning, 1 RBI “double” in the 2nd to BJ in LF (terrible misplay, ran in instead of back), 4 total errors, 2 by Frenchy, first 9 batters all got out, TWO line-drive DPs to 1B, Esco tossed for slamming his helmet when he got doubled off 1st, only 5 hits on offense against a 5 ERA pitcher, and 1 XBH. We completely suck.
