Game Thread #79: Brewers (43-35) at Twins (43-36)
I'd really like to win this series. Obviously, I'd like to win every series, but if we take 2 out of 3 this weekend, we'll have a winning record in interleague, and given the way interleague has gone so far this year, odds are the Cubs and/or Cards won't do the same and we'll pick up some ground.
The matchup tonight is between guys who you almost certainly did not draft for your fantasy team before the season started: Seth McClung and Nick Blackburn. You don't need me to tell you how awesome McClung has been since moving into the rotation, but it is worth noting that he got the W against the Twins two starts ago. Blackburn has also been quite good, with a 3.68 ERA and peripherals that support it.
Game time is 7:10 CT, and here's the BR Game Preview.
Go Brewers!

His era started the day at 2.63 and now its at 3.26. Not bad for 2.1 innings pitched.

According to STATS...
- The Twins are looking for their first 10-game winning streak since winning 11 in a row from June 22-July 3, 2006. Minnesota’s pitchers have a 1.78 ERA and have not allowed more than three runs in any game during this current streak.
- Corey Hart has 20 RBI so far this month, which is tied for the second most by any N.L. player.
- Delmon Young’s eight outfield assists are tied for third most in the majors. Unfortunately, he also has six errors—which is tied with teammate Carlos Gomez for the second most by any outfielder.
Justin Upton’s eight errors lead the league for outfielders.

I don't understand
How McClung is any good. From his picture on gamecast, he looks like a Beer League softball player that’s not even in good shape. Now, he has allowed a 3 homer guy to go yard. So I guess that’s that. He should not be pitching as well as he has.

How stocky and unattractive the guy who gave up the homer to Counsell was? I would hate him the most.
by Rawiswar on Jun 27, 2008 7:59 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
How about this?
I am still angry about McClung throwing at the Cards last year, whether or not he was ordered to. And when he threw at the guy in the ‘strohs game this year. I don’t mind throwing at people or having a long memory, but don’t do it in stupid situations. Wait until you are up or down 5 runs.

Great quote from McClung that night...
“It’s not the first guy I’ve hit, not the first walk. Why do you think Tampa traded me?” McClung said. “It happens sometimes with me. The ball just gets out of my hand and flies away.”
