Shouse baseball cards

First, I'll admit that I'm an interloper in this forum - I'm a Rockies fan.

However, I am a big fan of one particular Brewer - reliever Brian Shouse.  Brian's brother is a friend of mine (we work for the same company).

Anyway, I've been looking to acquire some of Brian's baseball cards.  At this point, I have 0 cards, so I'd be happy to obtain any run of the mill cards.  I'm willing to pay for the cards (a small premium - I won't pay $1 a card or anything crazy like that).  Or I'd be willing to trade Brewers cards for Shouse card.  I think I even have a few Pilots cards for those who are really interested in the history of the franchise.

I'd prefer to work with folks who might have a few dozen cards of Shouse (to avoid pay $1 postage for a 5 cent card).

The cards don't necessarily have to be of Brian with the Brewers - any cards would be great.

I don't know that I would

give up my one Shouse card, but you gould have the ashes of many Davey Lopes cards burned in effigy.

I have no cards to offer you

But I did want to know if you’d seen this site yet?

Yep

Yeah, I stumbled across is a while back and pointed it out to Brian’s brother :)

Well yes Kosmo

I have been hoarding Shousie cards for years, but now your post has pointed out to me how ludicrous this is since they are only worth a nickel to someone who actually wants one. So now I will mail them to you… lets see…. postage is $.42 so that is the value of 8 cards… but 8 cards weighs .33 lbs so then I need another stamp… $.84 so that is 16 cards which weighs … darn it, how will I ever get rid of my collection of 150 Shousie cards? Much less get the glue off of the backs of them since they were glued to my bedroom wall.

Lol

I think you might have taken my comments the wrong way.

I’m not suggesting that I’ll only pay a nickel – just that I won’t pay something like a buck a card. The nickel comment was just a remark about the FMV. Would I pay more than a nickel per card – certainly. My point was that I would rather buy 20 cards from one person than 1 card from 20 people – simply because it makes sense to incur the shipping costs once rather than 20 times.

Honestly, you’d probably get the best value by trading for some of my Brewers cards – certainly I have some Yount stuff from the 80s, and certainly have some Brewers cards from the 60s and 70s that might be neat for some kids.

I just thought this might be the best place to find some folks who might have some duplicate Shouse cards in their boxes of Brewers cards. If not, that’s perfectly OK.

Poll
Who is the Brewers' top prospect?
  • Brett Lawrie - Cana-DUH!
  • Mat Gamel - A great pure hitter who could potentially play a position of need.
  • Alcides Escobar - The Brewers sorely need his defensive wizardry and contact-hitting approach. He also solves the 3B hole by shifting J.J. over.
  • Jonathan Lucroy - The best catching prospect in the system by virtue of the fact that he can actually catch. His hitting numbers at Brevard are very good on the face of it, but even better after accounting for Space Coast Stadium.
  • Angel Salome - He's leading a Huntsville team that's loaded with prospects in all three slash stats, and he has the tools to be a good defensive catcher.
  • Jeremy Jeffress - The only real pitching prospect in a sea of hitters, Jeffress could potentially ease the pain of losing two aces by blossoming into one himself.
  • Carlos George - Hey, Derek Jeter can't play defense either.
