Draft Countdown Open Thread

KL's on the road, so I thought I'd continue to open things up for discussion.

Kyguy922 just posted a "Wannabe Frosty Mug," with some great links, including links to site with still more great links. Thanks, Kyguy922!

Kevin Goldstein has his mock draft up at BP, and the article appears to be free. He has the Brewers taking Jason Castro (a catcher from Stanford whose stock has been rising all year) at #16. Seems reasonable to me.

Baseball America has a feature on the Brewers draft bounty , written by our good buddy Tom H.

The Hardball Times has a blog post with links to still more pre-draft stuff.

The best part of the draft? The Cubs don't get nine in a row.

I would not be happy with Jason Castro

I’d rather take Hewitt, and I don’t want Hewitt. Mediocrity is mediocre. The first round is for hopes and dreams.

Everything indicates the Pirates are taking Alvarez at #2.

Rumors flying, phones ringing? I like the MLB draft, but it really doesn’t hold a candle to the NFL draft.

Something can be big and still not come close to the NFL draft, which is a behemoth. There’s plenty of content out there.

I’ll be looking forward to following the draft on the off-day tomorrow. Anyone aware around what time the sixteenth pick will be made?

It starts at 2 ET...

I think teams have ~5 minutes, and use much of it in the first round, mostly so that the telecast can have plenty of jabbering and ads and such.

So…I would guess between 3 and 3:30 ET.
