It looks like

the seal is talking.

Maybe

We can keep this going and catch up to the Cubs

Sooner or Later

the Cubs will have to play teams with a winning record no more Padres Rockies and Pirates. They also have a ton of road games left. this stretch by the Cubs will make the coming crash that much more enjoyable.

Trenni interview rule

Never show the interviewee. You can let the guy talk, and capture the audio, but the camera should always been on Trenni. Even if she is wearing the goofiest shirt I’ve ever seen.

That is truly a horrible sentiment

I can not support that, nor the picture.

I can support the sweep, and taking down “the best team in baseball” according to Espin

A...

...mancrush. By the way, what ever happened to those “Man Law” Miller commercials. Those were good.

by BrewerLover on Jun 4, 2008 4:14 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I liked them too

They were better than the similar “Commish” of the More Taste League commercials. You can find them all here.

I love Miller Light

pitching

the pitching has got to be commended on this homestand. giving up 10 runs in the 8 wins…i don’t know how long that can keep up but i’m loving it.

YoGanna win with Gallardo on the mound.

Totally

It’s definitely been a lot better than I expected, given the former games

Two best moments at today's game

I went to the game today. Although it was a great day overall, there were two particularly outstanding moments.

The first was when they announced the distance on Corey Hart’s home run—206 feet!

The second was when they played a video from the series at this link. There was some half-hearted effort to promote something called “Planet Green” which apparently has a vague eco-friendly angle to it.

The line from Tommy Lee about only shooting heroin derived from sustainable-ag poppies didn’t make it through the editing process.

Don't try to do too much with it. Just take the ball the other way.

by shooty babitt on Jun 4, 2008 7:59 PM CDT   0 recs

Funny video

the green thing must be across all MLB because it was the same thing for the Nats game tonight. Fans were encouraged to wear green, etc. In return Mother Nature sent a torrential downpour, tornadoes, and thunder storms. I am going tomorrow to see the new park for the first time and to root against the Cards, so hopefully the weather improves.

by molitorfan on Jun 4, 2008 8:13 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Myers

for the Phils just lost his no hitter against the Reds in the top of the 7th. The hit that broke it up was an RBI double that made it 1-0 Reds. Volquez has only given up 2 hits to the Phils (1 of them to Jenks).

by molitorfan on Jun 4, 2008 8:15 PM CDT   0 recs

Hak Ju Lee!

Cubs tied at 1 in the fourth, MLB.com informs me that they are going for 10 in a row (?!)

Whenever prince is at first, he should charge the mound and yell "MEAT!"

Crist

69 pitches through 7 innings for the Mad Dog. Still 1-1 though.

When the Padres fire sale begins

I would like Melvin to be first in line for Maddux.

Maddux is the one active player who I reserve the right to be totally irrational about. Fortunately, apart from the HR-friendliness of Miller, he’d be a decent fit.

Where I get really irrational is that I’d like to keep him in the rotation until he turns 50.

Also, cheese.

I don't know how he does it

Really only throwing a sinker and a change right now. Velocity in the low 80’s right now. He is getting the job done though and he will certainly be on the market this year.

Reminds me of a guy named Suppan

in a very vague way (emphasis on vague and Suppan’s current success). I may be getting ahead of myself but… a rotation of Sheets, Suppan, Maddux, Parra / Gallardo(crossed fingers and very remotely possible) in the post season or race towards, would be splendid. No lies, that is way to far in the future to look at, but it basically comes down to would you rather have McClung/Bush of Maddux for the ride?

I don’t know the Padres expectations either, but would you trade Gwynn for 3(?) months of Greg Maddux?

"He's been very, very impressive," Yost said. "I mean really impressive. I mean really, really impressive."

You know what the real problem is

I am just bad at baseball-reference. You would think I would use that site every day but I suck at the queries so bad. It isn’t like I haven’t queried DBs before but something about Sean’s interface just gives me fits.

First, that fastball is dead straight. Second there is very little movement difference in those three pitches.
