Saturday's Plastic Cup
We haven't had a Mug or Cup for a few days, so I figured I'd put something together. It'll be short, but it'll be something.
To file under "Guys you thought would never be valued enough by any team to get traded," Angel Berroa is now a Dodger. In a further shock, he may be called up. To the big league team.
Sidney Ponson made an ass of himself, and now he's looking for work again.
If you're looking for what battlekow calls a "datagasm," check out splits and situational stats on all college players selected by the Brewers in this year's draft. As battlekow points out, Evan Bronson's numbers are ridiculous...they should also be taken with a grain of salt, since he pitched in Division 3. Same goes, to some extent, for Brandon Rapoza of Flagler. Flagler is D2, though it plays a reasonably difficult schedule for the level.
Game time is 7:05 CT. See y'all back here then.

Well, we still have math on our side.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"

BTW Jeff
Do you have stats going back to when Rickie was in college? It sure would be interesting to see how his stats translate assuming D2 hasn’t changed toughness.

Southern is D1
but nearly the lowliest of D1. Approximately, multiply rate stats by the square root of ~0.8.
I don’t have stats going back that far, but Boyd Nation does.
Also, cheese.

Oh I feel like a fool now
I seem to be putting my foot in my mouth a lot when talking about the draft in general.

nah, don't feel bad
It may be that treating Southern as D2 is more accurate than treating them as D1. I’m the only person here who should be expected to know all 300 D1 teams by heart :).
Also, cheese.

7:05 CT Start Time
Jeff,
I could be wrong but I think I read the game starts at 7:05 today.
by brewfan2 on Jun 7, 2008 10:13 AM CDT 0 recs
you are correct
If I weren’t making the effort to post in CT, the east coast media bias would be applicable. As it is, the part of the human brain that deals with Mountain Time does not function for me.
Also, cheese.

Well, I think I have searched thoroughly, and it seems I posted nothing violent resulting from my drunkup after last night’s …. thingy…

man
that game last night was ugly.
Just to make you all jealous, I know someone who used to work for the O’s so I have a Sir Sidney Ponson bobble head signed by the drunkard himself. I am hoping that the Favre bobble head can be a good influence on it.

Just checked my messages,
and my buddy in L.A. did get to enjoy the Dodgers beating the Cubs, although, from the message, I’m not sure he will remember after the flask he smuggled in.

ok
obviously I haven’t been able to let this one go, but last night’s loss is squarely on the shoulders of Yost. That game goes no other way with Nascar at the helm. I’m finished saying, “at least he isn’t Dust Baker or Davey Lopes.” He’s Ned Yost, and that is bad enough.

First official draft pick signing
Trey Watten, seventh-round RHP from Abilene Christian.
He's extremely quick and good.

To my knowledge, he hasn’t said anything anywhere. Supposedly he has a membership on brewerfan.net. I’m surprised nobody has called the guy on the telephone.
