Game Thread #62: Brewers (32-29) at Rockies (23-38)
The less said about last night's game, the better.
Tonight, it's Dave Bush against Greg Reynolds. Reynolds is likely to become one heck of a pitcher at some point, but the signs so far suggest that he hasn't yet.
Game time is 7:05 CT, and here's the BR Game Preview.
Go Brewers!

Missed it after Milwaukee TV abandoned covering anything but weather. Must have been good though if it gets a detailed write up at the MLB Cubs site.
Looking at the gameday postage stamp size highlights, it looked like Fukudome had a ball in his glove that he dropped. Difficult but he had it and dropped it. First time I’ve seen him dive.
Anyone see the Ramirez error. I couldn’t tell what happened from the mini-video. Ball in the dirt that Lee couldn’t dig out?
Did he really kick a gatorade cooler in the dugout?
Sorry I missed that.

The main
Difference being that steroids are not illegal in horses.
Neither is LASIK
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
What a difference an X makes
I’m not sure that anyone wants horses to see better. Something that prevents a lot of blood from seeping onto the track might be handy, though.

Hm...Do you think
we could train a horse to hit homeruns for us?

It has already been done
El Caballo!

Whenever prince is at first, he should charge the mound and yell "MEAT!"
Wow
really bad weather in the Milwaukee area. Thunderstorms, tornados, etc.
I don’t think the roof would be open if the game were in Milwaukee.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
Apparently there was a tornado warning in Shorewood and I was supposed to be in the basement
Whoops.
He's extremely quick and good.
On the East Side
There were streets that pretty much looked like rivers (near Wolskis)
Coffee is for closers
did they close it?
ha! I kill me.

General question
Does anyone really care about Manny’s 500th HR or Griffey’s 600th? Tired of seeing that damn MLB promotion everywhere!

They cut out of a tie Cub game in the eighth last week
to show a Ramirez potential 500 home run at-bat. That drives me nuts.
Whenever prince is at first, he should charge the mound and yell "MEAT!"
Good news, campers!
- There is substantial grit in the leadoff spot
- Yost has a specific strategy to avoid hitting into the triple play
- Guillermo Mota is the “8th inning guy”
If that isn’t enough to make you happy that rain has knocked out your satellite, I don’t know what is.

Yay, preparing for unexpected outcomes and not putting players in position to suceed!
- Hasn’t OPS+ ed over 100 since 2000
- Has happened twice this year
- Hasn’t ERA+ ed over 100 since 2004
Whenever prince is at first, he should charge the mound and yell "MEAT!"
Alex Periard’s having a good night, with 6 K in 4 IP. Everyone always says he has the stuff to strike people out, but just…doesn’t. He’s another Canadian guy, btw.
Jonathan Lucroy is pissed that the Brewers drafted a catcher, so he took it out on the baseball. Matt Cline’s homer, I have nothing clever to say about.
He's extremely quick and good.
Damn you, WMLW
My antenna is able to pull in this game. Assuming the National Guard hasn’t commandeered Craig Counsell to use in holding back the flooding, I guess I’ll get to witness this game, after all.

Greg Reynolds is really not good
They need to take some pitches. I don’t like this.
He's extremely quick and good.
What's not to like?
Counsell led off with an out, killing any chance of a triple play. Take that, Hurdle.

Calling up Ian Stewart is not "going deep into the minor leagues", Brian
Sometimes, just shut up, man.
He's extremely quick and good.
i can't shake the feeling
that we have a Bush-whacking coming

don't ever do that again
please
Whenever prince is at first, he should charge the mound and yell "MEAT!"
sincere apologies
i’ll keep my fears to myself next time

You can say these streets are rivers
You can call these rivers streets
You can tell yourself you’re dreamin’, buddy
But no sleep runs this deep
No, no sleep runs this deep
He's extremely quick and good.
on the bright side
This isn’t a save situation, so we won’t see mota any time soon

Ned has to keep him in
He doesn’t have a “1st inning guy”
Whenever prince is at first, he should charge the mound and yell "MEAT!"
Well that sucks
Maybe I can watch something else instead
Can't pitch Gagne in rain. He’s like the B-2 bomber of baseball.--TheJay
Villy only threw 10 pitches yesterday....

oh geez
MLB.tv just showed a “Watch the draft June 5th and 6th” commercial. Way to be on the ball, guys.
What....
....channel is this on. I have cable and I’m in Racine, WI.
"Get up, get up, get outta' here, GONE!!!"
well
Maybe Bush will do his thing where he has the 3 or 4 scoreless innings in the middle and his pitch count keeps him from completing the other bookend.
I'll bet that Colorado's
done for the night. (Knock on wood.) The Brewers have a chance, its only the third, and they’ve been scoring some runs lately.
"Get up, get up, get outta' here, GONE!!!"
Hey, remember when we were all
dissing Larry the Cable Guy? Hes on Comedy Central now making an ass of himself as usual. He has the uncanny ability to say unfunny things and also make them sound stupid.
"Get up, get up, get outta' here, GONE!!!"
Wait a minute
How is he both on Comedy Central and playing 1B for the Rockies at the same time?

Ugh
Dillon has really not been getting the job done recently with those pinch hits. He didn’t get the run in yesterday either.
heresy
How dare you say Dillon is anything but the best man for every situation? Well, behind Kapler.

What about Hall there
I guess he strikes out a lot but when he hits them they tend to be sac flies.

Haven't you heard?
Bill Hall has no value in the major leagues.
by Marty McSuperFly on Jun 7, 2008 8:35 PM CDT up reply actions
And he is in
Not that this is anything you guys don’t know but JDLR is about as wild as they come. He easily could put a few more on base here quickly.

also featured in that game
Blown saves by two of our recent three All-Star closers. Ah, memories. (BB-Ref boxscore)
I am going to go with stoic
Seems like a game where Ned will chalk it up to just not our day.

“He pitched pretty well, you know, just left a couple pitches up there in the first inning, but then he settled down. We had to get DeFelicey in for some work there.”
3 for 4 with 1 HR, 1 K and 2 Es
He’s only got 15 for the year.

Seven games under .500 on the road
Which is unusual for a Ned Yost led club. Normally it’s as if we had all nine LaPorta’s playing, and each one of them thought the opposing pitcher had slept with their girlfriend/s(still haven’t figured out the proper plural when speaking of The Nine).
