Frederickson

Wed-7-9-Odorizzi-Debuts-Two-Scoreless-Innings.html”>Apparently he was only sitting at 88-90 while topping out at 92, which is disappointing. Coupled with Alex Eisenberg’s comment that the mechanics exhibited in Frederickson’s draft video pretty much could not produce 97 mph velocity, I think it’s safe to say that Frederickson has a lot of work to do keeping his mechanics consistent.

He's extremely quick and good.

I was pretty surprised to see that Frederickson was moved up to A ball. Has he had the velocity and mechanics issues since he began his pro career or is it just a case of promoting him aggressively and him not quite meeting the challenge? On one hand, is it really cause for concern after six starts? On the other hand, shouldn’t a third rounder already have a handle on this stuff?

He wasn't a third rounder

He was a supplemental rounder, so your point still stands, with emphasis.

In light of this new information, I’m questioning the decision to promote him as well.

He's extremely quick and good.

Being a supplemental round pick def. makes this look worse.
