Lawrie makes Canada's Olympic team
He almost certainly won't be signing until just before the deadline now, but it shouldn't be a big deal, since he'll be playing against high-level competition with wood bats.

Olympic Baseball is a Farce.
Last Olympics silver medalists (Australia!) have to battle out for a few qualifying spots with excellent Asian teams, and then there is basically a gift spot for the Freaky Deaky Dutchmen.
What other reason do we have to Defrost Dave Nilsson than the Olympics?

yeah, well
to win gold you should be able to win your qualifier, no?
yes, the overall ranks of teams around the world would fairly probably have more teams in between the team that places first in the olympics and the team that places last, but it’s not a completely bad system.
The freaky deaky dutch will have their asses handed to them in the round-robin rounds of the olympics and won’t make the final spread. karma will handle itself.

Didn't the Dutch
No-hit Panama in the WBC?

Australia...
Struggled massively in the qualifiers this year. The few guys that we were relying on made 25 man rosters way earlier than anticipated.
