Block Party!

Here are the player appearances for this Saturday's block party:

MANITOBA PARK (2941 S. 49th St.)

  • Bill Castro
  • J.J. Hardy
  • Guillermo Mota
  • Manny Parra
  • Mike Rivera
  • Ned Yost

MITCHELL BLVD PARK (52nd & Bluemound)

  • Russell Branyan
  • Gabe Kapler
  • Mitch Stetter
  • Dale Sveum
  • Carlos Villanueva

I'm sure that the Manitoba Park location will be filled with thousands of screaming teenage girls just waiting in line for their chance to try and get hottie Hardy to sign their bosoms. The only other people there will probably be wanting to talk to Ned about Mota or Mota about pitching or just there for the hot dogs.

Mitchell Blvd Park might be an interesting site to visit. Although he is no Ryan Braun, Gabe Kapler isn't that bad looking. And it'd be interesting to talk to Branyan.

Is a little Braun action too much to ask for, really? And did he ever reschedule his chat?

I wonder who will be at the August 9 block parties

I’d guess Counsell will be at the Whitefish Bay one. Fielder, Weeks, Braun, and Hart are the only other non-pitchers who have yet to make an appearance. Given Braun’s history of impunctuality, he would say he’d get to the park half an hour late and cancel an hour after the shindig beings.

Ted Simmons and pseudo-coach Joe Crawford are the only coaches who have yet to be scheduled for a block party.

Last Year

Braun was on time for his, it was the last one of the season as well.

His line was stupid long, I’d say 2 city blocks.

Lately he's been flakey though

He’s slept in a few times when he’s scheduled to be on the radio, been late and then canceled his chat…

I figured his line would be long, but geez. I’ll totally have to show up crazy early.

You're wrong!

The other one will be filled with expatriate female members of Red Sox Nation wanting Gabe Kapler to sign various body parts—and to throw hot dogs at Dale Sveum.

Speaking of hotties, a friend of mine is wondering why Mitch Stetter cut his hair. It was really pretty when he got called up.

I didn’t say that was my opinion on Stetter; my opinion of him is that left-handed relievers are good things to have around as there is only one Brian Shouse and he can’t work too much. I’m OK with Stetter as long as he doesn’t bring his gas can to the mound with him. ;)

As for the Kapler thing…I don’t get it either, it’s just been said to me by many, many female Sox fans.

I think it would be nice

if Sabathia appeared at the next block party too, although it probably won’t happen

so...

is there a way to get BrewCrewBall here to display the most recommended posts of all time (or this season?)

I know this one probably won’t qualify, but ya never know;)

it would be a boring list...

...all L flags :).

Jeff!

You know I just want to hug Sabathia and see how squishy he really is, and then Fielder for comparison. You’ll always be my second-favorite baseball guy (you’re higher than Braun).

Mitchell Street

So I went to the Mitchell Street signing. I went specifically for Branyan. So my buddy shows up, and we are in the Branyan line. Signers are supposed to be Branyan, Villy, Stetter, Kapler and Sveum. Players show up, and what the hell Gallardo! I knew I should have checked all the lines.

Pictures.

Kapler, he took time to get pictures with chicks.

Branyan signing my buddies kid. Was hillarious

Yoga

Dale – Had him sign my 1987 Topps card, he seemed kind of like a jerk! Didn’t joke around like the rest of the players.

Villy about to sign my sweet Villy shirt.

Yoga had a slight limp, but he didn’t look in pain or encumbered to much. He said he’ll try to get to the post season, but won’t sacrifice the future for the post season.

Branyan doesn't kiss babies to curry favor

He signs them?

The baby looks completely mystified

Branyan does not need to curry favor

Favor needs to curry Branyan.

And neck size to baby eating ratio.

Something like this?

He's extremely quick and good.

Much much bigger then Sherman Park (Of under 100) from last month.

I’d say around 300 – 500 or so, hard to judge. Yogas line was the biggest by far. I was able to get through Villys in about 10 minutes, 2 minutes of Sveum and about 20 for Branyan. Lots of kids, as it’s around a fairly middle class neighborhood.

They gave away some tickets, a Sheets Ball, Counsell, Rivera Ball. Bush Jersey and someone elses, (forgot already). Kapler for some reason was extremely busy, apparently people love his muscly goodness.

Signing the baby cracked me up.
