Game Thread #93: Reds (44-49) at Brewers (51-41)

The only Brewers pitcher on more of a hot streak than Dave Bush, especially at home, is Manny Parra.  Parra is holding opponents to a .646 OPS at Miller Park--basically, he turns the opposition lineup into nine Jason Kendalls on a bad day, only without the grit.  Even more impressive, Parra has a 2.08 ERA in his last seven starts, including three scoreless outings in his last four.

Josh Fogg goes for the Reds, and the same positive things cannot be said about him.

And, oh yeah, don't know if you noticed, but the Brewers are currently leading in the NL Wild Card, with the second best record in the National League.

Game time is 7:05 CT, and here's the BR Game Preview.

Go Brewers!

Jeff, haven't you learned your lesson yet?

You shouldn’t talk about our pitchers’ awesomeness. You have to simply post that you promise we will not suck tonight.

by PagsBrewCrew on Jul 11, 2008 5:21 PM CDT   0 recs

Talking about awesomeness...

worked pretty well last night…

Also, cheese.

by Jeff Sackmann on Jul 11, 2008 5:35 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

i see

we learned nothing from the sheets/rusch fiasco

the normal rules don't apply

to Glendon Rusch.

Also, cheese.

by Jeff Sackmann on Jul 11, 2008 7:00 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

yesterday

was pretty noncommittal “But still, I shall not comment on the likely outcome of this game.” And there you said that Bush wasn’t as good as Parra. so you did not talk about awesomeness:P

commenting on the suckiness of the opposition = cool.
commenting on our own awesomeness = not cool;)

Just about every time it is stated that Sheets is a guaranteed win, we lose;) I just don’t want that to extend to the other pitchers.

by PagsBrewCrew on Jul 11, 2008 7:00 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Hopefully Parra

Can continue the streak tonight. I could use some good news after listening to this whole Favre saga today. Damn that man, it’s like becoming a widow, grieving, coming to terms, remarrying, and then your spouse comes back from the dead…what do you do???

"He's been very, very impressive," Yost said. "I mean really impressive. I mean really, really impressive."

by MadJimiBrewha on Jul 11, 2008 5:49 PM CDT   0 recs

Well, this undead spouse is asking for a divorce so (s)he can remarry

I would think the undead are fairly scant on legal privileges.

Zombies: the last population group it’s still okay to make fun of.

He's extremely quick and good.

You'd think so

though at your own risk.

Although the benevolent ones are cool.

Two days early

But I’m eagerly awaiting the Sunday lineup. I bet every bench player gets a start to give the regulars an extra day’s rest.

2nd inning over

Edwin E. with a lead off single. Add in a couple Ks and a Jay Bruce bullet.

Seems like a pitcher’s strike zone tonight.

by ol Pete on Jul 11, 2008 7:29 PM CDT   0 recs

what's up Brew Crew?

You guys are going to enjoy C.C.

He is fun to watch and he loves to hit..

Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds

by Caleb on Jul 11, 2008 7:31 PM CDT   0 recs

wait...i thought you guys didn't believe in subject lines

but thanks:) I’m sure we’ll enjoy him while he lasts (ie this year) :)

by PagsBrewCrew on Jul 11, 2008 7:34 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

He's a Reds guy

Its them thar Indians folks who ain’t into the subject lines

by ol Pete on Jul 11, 2008 7:36 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

us?

that would be the Clevelanders.

What is the Brewer’s position on negotiating during the season? Jockety prefers not to do it, which is, IMO, a leading factor as to why we will probably lose Dunn after this season

I don’t think Melvin has any rules like that.

Subject lines suck.

friggin Fogg has a season high for Ks?

Man, its painful to watch the Fred Sanford type pitchers against the Brewers.

that’s the most amusing term for junkballers I’ve seen yet.

It's only his sixth start

FWIW.

by ol Pete on Jul 11, 2008 7:54 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Can we all hear

the guys that are being threatend to be kicked out of the game on the FSN broadcast?

Its hilarious and pathetic at the same time

by battlekow on Jul 11, 2008 8:32 PM CDT   0 recs

I think

all of the Brewers partook in the one hitters before the game.

by molitorfan on Jul 11, 2008 8:34 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

and that being a home run

Josh Fogg, ever so reliable for really weird situations.

between pitches and throws to first he’s chucked the baseball about 25 times this inning

I recall him skipping off the mound during the NLCS last year (but I could be remembering wrong.)

He wasn’t as smiley earlier in the year—but then again, he was awful earlier in the year.

by morineko on Jul 11, 2008 8:44 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I'd be smiling too

If I got a strikeout with a pitch like that one.
