It rhymes with "camel"
I have no idea why Gary Thorne went all Jon Miller on it in the first inning, but it seemed like he corrected himself after that.
He's extremely quick and good.

LaPorta
does he point to the sky after every hit? He “singled” off the third baseman’s glove and pointed to the sky. Maybe he was thanking God for the poor fielding?

If...
some future generation discovers a correlation between deism and babip, LaPorta will get the last laugh!
Also, cheese.

what's the score?
by the way, i don’t like the division of us vs “dirty foreigners.” It just seems wrong on so many levels.
are the foreigners in the US minor league system, or do they play in Asia or Dominican Republic?

that’s racist and all kinds of wrong.
they’re in the US now and they should be treated like they’re welcome.

Yeah, I'd prefer to see NL prospects vs AL prospects
Lumping guys from New Zealand, guys from Holland, and guys from Venezuela together and having them play Americans makes no sense.
He's extremely quick and good.

I like it, myself. The “Us versus Them” thing never crossed my mind. Plus representing your country and wearing your nation’s flag on your jersey is a pretty cool honor.
"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.

Right, but we have Olypmpics and WBC for that
When one whole team is wearing American flags and all of the other 200ish countries get lumped in together, it’s a little uncomfortable (for me).
He's extremely quick and good.

But there's not really anything riding on that game...
Of course my perspective is totally different not being American, but for me it comes across more like the home team (Americans) taking on an elite barnstorming team, so I don’t really see anything racist/nationalist/jingoist/etc about it. And it doesn’t really seem to be hyped as U.S. team vs World team either (in my impression anyway), more like a joint exhibition extravaganza.
