All-Star Game Open Thread
At 7:00 CT, FOX will be airing a whole bunch of ads. If you watch closely, you'll also see Ben Sheets pitch a couple of innings, Braun get a couple of at-bats, and Hart pinch-hit at some point.
Go futile National Leaguers!

Braun sells out
Ryan Braun made a horrifying discovery during his first all-star clubhouse experience.link“It turns out that all the Cubs are kind of nice guys,” the Brewers leftfielder told me this afternoon. “That’s unfortunate. I thought it would be easy to dislike them.”
Braun has learned you can want to kick somebody’s butt on the field but still shoot the breeze with them in the all-star atmosphere. First-timers, such as Braun and Brewers rightfielder Corey Hart, often are surprised at how cordial even the biggest stars in the league can be.
“At first, it’s kind of overwhelming,” said Hart. “Then, you realize how friendly the guys are. I got to talk to (Cubs outfielder Kosuke) Fukudome and he’s a good guy. Kind of quiet, but a good guy.
BCB's "very own marginally deserving all-star!"
I'm not surprised.
But we’ll see what he says after spending an afternoon in the bleachers at Wrigley.
Also, cheese.

the line from the God Father springs to mind
Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer
Its all about the Bullpen this season that is the key.
Jeter and Ramirez as the starting shortstops
I suppose that puts both team on equal defensively-challenged footing…
Anybody else notice
that none of the legendary All-Stars they introduced were Red Sox?
also fairly annoying Niekro wasn’t wearing a Milwaukee Braves hat

yes, his offense leaves something to be desired
his pitch calling ability is renowned as well. Many a pitcher have said that they pitch best when they trust him and the dinger is always given up when they ignore his judgement.

now my cubbies
will light up the night sky with massive HR’s
So
I’ve always wondered not being from the Wisc. Chicago area just why there is so much animosity between you guys. Ive been to Wrigley 3 times (but not the bleachers) and i havent seen the kind of crazy cubs fans i hear so much about- are they really that bad on the road? or do brewer fans just feel like Chic gets too much attention?
Miller Park
Come to Miller Park.. you’ll see the bad Cubbie fans. the bad fans can’t afford Wrigley so they come up here.
I'd be a cub fan
if the brewers were still in the AL
but given that we’re in the NL, I gotta hate the cubs;)
by PagsBrewCrew on Jul 15, 2008 8:23 PM CDT up reply actions
You gotta have a rival
A lot of Cubs fans seem to care more about the Cardinals than they do about the Brewers, honestly.
BCB's "very own marginally deserving all-star!"
thats a
long time rivarly though- brews and cubs havent been in the same divison for long plus for along time both of our teams were fucking terrible
I know
But the Brewers have no long-time NL rival, and Chicago is just obvious. Combine that with a little inferiority complex and the notoriously entitled Cubs fanbase, and you can see how some hatred develops.
BCB's "very own marginally deserving all-star!"
Yep..
I really didn’t mind the Cubs till we switched to the NL. I can remember like yesterday going to my first Cubs @ Crew game. We had the VERY top row nose bleeds.
We were surrounded by Cub fans, families. So we simply cheered for our team, weren’t dicks, weren’t mocking the Cubs. Then some time around the 5th when the Cubs took a good 2 run lead, some father turned around and said “Suck it, your fin Brewers suck”. And then a bunch of punk ass teenagers started in.
I don’t mind other fans in our park, Cards fans are generally cool, Twins fans (minus a few) are pretty cool. But Cub fans just… just… are assholes in our park.
Who knows
They all end up being the same..
I hate going to Cubs/Crew games, the fans just make the experience horrible.
in terms of "friendly rivalries
the twins are the best at Miller Park. I always have a good time at brewer-twins games

how a manager can justify substituting all star subs for say a “lesser player” in a game that decides homefield advantage for the world series.
my brother had a great idea. let the coaches come from the 3 division leaders and the head manager be from the team who has the best record in that league. no idea if that’d stop the political semantics of making sure everyone gets it…it probably wouldn’t, but i just don’t get it…
