All-Star Game Open Thread

Braun sells out
Ryan Braun made a horrifying discovery during his first all-star clubhouse experience.

“It turns out that all the Cubs are kind of nice guys,” the Brewers leftfielder told me this afternoon. “That’s unfortunate. I thought it would be easy to dislike them.”

Braun has learned you can want to kick somebody’s butt on the field but still shoot the breeze with them in the all-star atmosphere. First-timers, such as Braun and Brewers rightfielder Corey Hart, often are surprised at how cordial even the biggest stars in the league can be.

“At first, it’s kind of overwhelming,” said Hart. “Then, you realize how friendly the guys are. I got to talk to (Cubs outfielder Kosuke) Fukudome and he’s a good guy. Kind of quiet, but a good guy.

I'm not surprised.

But we’ll see what he says after spending an afternoon in the bleachers at Wrigley.

Also, cheese.

"That's unfortunate"

Awesome line from Braun there.

And neck size to baby eating ratio.

the line from the God Father springs to mind

Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer

Jeter and Ramirez as the starting shortstops

I suppose that puts both team on equal defensively-challenged footing…

Anybody else notice

that none of the legendary All-Stars they introduced were Red Sox?

also fairly annoying Niekro wasn’t wearing a Milwaukee Braves hat

Kendall

should be at catcher. At least he can throw out runners.

he sucks, and Sheets didnt hold Jeter on

i dont

understand this attitude

why must you defend the bad player on your team? if a brewer fan told me theriot is god awful i would agree with him

by ACB on Jul 15, 2008 8:08 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Kendall is fine defensively is the point

ive seen his CS % is back up

by ACB on Jul 15, 2008 8:10 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Theriot

is without a doubt my least favorite Cub. i absolutely cannot stand that guy. At least when Ramirez wins games, he’s a good player. When Theriot does it, it’s just that much more annoying

by SunglassesAtNight on Jul 15, 2008 8:10 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

theriot

cant win too many games with his awful defense and slap singles to RF

by ACB on Jul 15, 2008 8:11 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

i believe kendall has the highest CS%

of catchers with more than 10 attempts against.

yes, his offense leaves something to be desired

his pitch calling ability is renowned as well. Many a pitcher have said that they pitch best when they trust him and the dinger is always given up when they ignore his judgement.

by PagsBrewCrew on Jul 15, 2008 8:11 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

He’s good with pitchers?

(hey, he’s the NL Varitek!)

not sure if i believe that

Fox has a bad habbit of exaggerating their pitch speeds. They do it all the time in the playoff.
