Nice picture as always

Parra going tomorrow and I have a good feeling. Webb is tough but he has been human lately.

I feel the same

Plus the D-backs are really beat up.

by ol Pete on Jul 2, 2008 11:44 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Ugh that sucks

It feels like we should make up some ground after that nice win.

by Mike Fontenot…

by ol Pete on Jul 2, 2008 11:45 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

And it is Tim Lincecum Bobble head tomorrow

No way they lose that one.

Fontenot homers

This shit is rigged.

He's extremely quick and good.

Marmol in line for the win now

Yeah he deserves that.

I'd give my dissertation on pitcher W-L records

that I usually have to give every 5 weeks at JSOnline, but you guys don’t need it…

Davey Nelson says Cameron's 9th inning go-ahead single was huge

Ya think? We should make him Riske-level money for that kind of analysis.

He's extremely quick and good.

by battlekow on Jul 2, 2008 11:45 PM CDT   0 recs

you're right

let’s just cut Riske tomorrow.

by James Stanley Cocanower on Jul 2, 2008 11:47 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Haha, I just wanted to see if you were still around

Anyway, I wasn’t saying that WXRL is worthless, just that it has a significant flaw. It’s not even reallly relevant, I suppose, since we’re comparing a relief pitcher to a relief pitcher.

Anyway, we can have both of them. You’re right.

He's extremely quick and good.

by battlekow on Jul 2, 2008 11:50 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Well if nothing else

Davey is ESPN-ready.

Maybe I should do some looking into Marmol

I wonder if the numbers say anything about his recent slide?

Visit my baseball blog ...or else!

by dixieflatline on Jul 2, 2008 11:48 PM CDT   0 recs

his problem

is controlling that fastball. The only task the cubs gave him this winter was to harness control of that fastball to set up K’s with that slider. He cant control it at all anymore and is getting behind and walking people as a result.

by ACB on Jul 2, 2008 11:51 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

It seems like he is throwing a whole lot more off-speed stuff. He used to be fastball/slider almost exclusively. At least that’s my recollection.

I also wonder if he never had a significant break after last year pitching Winter ball.

by ol Pete on Jul 2, 2008 11:53 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Make us some pretty graphs

He's extremely quick and good.

by battlekow on Jul 2, 2008 11:53 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

his off speed

is just that slider. As a starter i remember him throwing a curve but it wasnt anything special. But you are right about over using the breaking pitch. He has admitted that he can control that better than his fastball (backwards i know) and as of late he is throwing it over and over and over

by ACB on Jul 2, 2008 11:55 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

its a slider

not a slurve- but its a sick sick slider

by ACB on Jul 2, 2008 11:56 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Well I would argue it is a slurve

Huge downward drop for a slider nearly 3 inches of drop. You just don’t see that in sliders too often. Sure it has a lot of horizontal movement as well but the large vertical drop makes me want to call it a slurve.

I'm thinking maybe make THT some pretty graphs

Normally I would have a topic picked out already but coming up a bit empty right now.

i think

harry pavaldis who is the cubs pitch f/x guy has some stuff on marmol

by ACB on Jul 2, 2008 11:58 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Harry says slurve too so when I write it up I am calling it a slurve

John Walsh calls it a curve BTW. So does my pitch classification algorithm. Not that that means much.

Am I missing something or did SF go and steal SD’s hats? July 4 thing?

Maybe I’ll see if there is a release point issue tomorrow.

sorry, joke fell flat...

I meant the point in time at which he’s getting released if his recent performance keeps up.

by Zeyes on Jul 3, 2008 12:06 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I enjoyed the joke

Haha

He meant released like fired.

He's extremely quick and good.

by battlekow on Jul 3, 2008 12:06 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

from the article

With the return of David Riske and Eric Gagne from the disabled list in recent weeks, Yost has plenty of options to work the eighth inning, though he was looking for a low-pressure situation to work Gagne back into the mix.

If it keeps Gagne out for a while longer, I’m in favour of more nailbiter games…

by Zeyes on Jul 3, 2008 12:05 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Defacto excuse?

Is this the new defacto excuse for a struggling reliever?

by SgtClueLs on Jul 3, 2008 8:20 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Anyone else seen a game at AT&T

Gorgeous park. Absolutely stunning. I love San Fran and the park is perfect for the city. Very passionate fans too.

More than a few

I like it.

by Lake County on Jul 3, 2008 12:10 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Yup

Went to a Giants/A’s game there last month. Awesome park. The structural design itself actually reminded me of Miller Park, but with no roof and on the bay.

Great food, huge scoreboard, good time! It was the game where the sprinkler system went off in the 9th inning … some added excitement.

by oconnobe on Jul 3, 2008 8:19 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Well, let's hope that...

Torres and Yabu won’t be the only ones to have tricky 9th innings…here’s to a Kerry Wood implosion.

by Zeyes on Jul 3, 2008 12:08 AM CDT   0 recs

Ick

the Giants aren’t looking good for tying this one up with the schlock they have up.

by Braunstalker on Jul 3, 2008 12:09 AM CDT   0 recs

Not gonna happen

Let’s all head over to The Bus Stop on Union and Vallejo

sigh...

Would have been nice to gain a game tonight.

On another note: a guy named Fred Lewis isn’t white? That’s almost inverted Khalil Greene territory…

by Zeyes on Jul 3, 2008 12:16 AM CDT   0 recs

Question

Plesac works for the local Comcast guys in Chicago. Did he leave the Crew under bad terms? I can’t remember.

Bleep it

we didn’t lose a game at least!

by Braunstalker on Jul 3, 2008 12:23 AM CDT   0 recs

Sounds like

I missed a good game. Between that and the Favre drama I picked a bad night to be away from Extra Innings and the Internet.
