Brewers expected to sign OF/pariah Jay Gibbons

Out of the major leagues since being released by the Orioles in March, Jay Gibbons is expected to sign a minor league deal this week with the Milwaukee Brewers.

An announcement could come as early as today, according to baseball sources. Gibbons, who probably will start in either Double- or Triple-A, was unavailable for comment last night.

“Welcome to town, Mr. Gibbons. Certainly a decent way to fill out a 40-man roster. He will most likely provide the extra pop off the bench once the rosters expand to playoff depth. Or just leave like Julian Tavarez and Jeff Weaver. Lets stay off the HGH, though.

Now, we wait for Jim Hendry to counter and sign for someone. Mr. Bonds anyone?”

I like the move

Gibbons is very remorseful of his HGH use and was a successful major leaguer. I like the move.

Now what about Bonds… he doesn’t have a natural position on the Brewers as there is no DH, but if we take him late, could have him warm up in the minors for the month of August, come up in September on the 40 man, and be a PH near the end of the year and play DH in the World Series. I know he would prefer to play everyday, but it’s better to play once in awhile vs never.

If he says he would play for the minimum and donate it to the Boys and girls club, why not? I don’t buy the clubhouse cancer, I want one of the best hitters in the game! Moss was supposed to be a cancer last year, but the Patriots did fine with him.. give me great players and the chemistry will work out. The media attention would be something else, but as the brewers are saying.. LETS GO FOR IT!

The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.

Another juiced player?

Why not? After all, look at how well all the cheaters and alleged cheaters have done for our team. Where would we be without Derrick Turnbow, Mike Cameron, Guillermo Mota, and Eric Gagne?
