Gotta feel Great

taking the first 2 with CC and Sheets finishing the series.

"He's been very, very impressive," Yost said. "I mean really impressive. I mean really, really impressive."

hopefully

So since I became a real baseball fan

This is the best I have felt about any Brewer team. We rock.

Can we just assume the sweep now?

The Brewers may be in first by the end of the week.

by Getting Yosted on Jul 22, 2008 9:42 PM CDT   0 recs

Let's not get too wild

Sheets has not been quite as good lately. Wellemeyer has pitched well for them too.

And a 4 game sweep is hard to do...

Lets not get all Cub fanny and just assume sweeps..

by SgtClueLs on Jul 22, 2008 9:44 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I do like the Sabathia matchup though

The cards have a decent amount of quality left handed bats that either sit or pay the price.

It would be nice to pay them back for their sweep at Miller Park, but it’s a long road

didn’t we win the sunday game of that series?

Cubs fans are willing to assume a sweep against the Marlins 3 days before the series starts. At least I had the good taste to wait for two games to be played.

by Getting Yosted on Jul 22, 2008 9:45 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Oh there could be a sweep alright...

Not what they think

by Lake County on Jul 22, 2008 9:53 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Yes, exactly

But, great shot for at least 3-1, and that’s a net of two games up for the series, on the road.

No way to complain about that.

Wellemeyer

Wellemeyer got a lot of press over his hot start and the fact that expectations were so low for him, but his ERA is now up to 4.22 and his ERA over the last month is nearly 6.00.

He is fine as a rotation filler I suppose, but he hasn’t been pitching well.

by badgermaniac on Jul 22, 2008 10:16 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

But Jeff...

nothing overly positive in the gameday thread descriptions the next two days, okay;)

by PagsBrewCrew on Jul 22, 2008 9:43 PM CDT   0 recs

yeah, yeah

I’ll focus on how it takes a lot of pitches to strike out so many guys.

Yeah me too

Still a few bugs to work out. They are making some amazing progress. Not only if they can get some better data….

Visit my baseball blog ...or else!

by dixieflatline on Jul 22, 2008 9:51 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Speaking of data but not that kind

For what it’s worth, my dad has covered games for STATS, inc., for years and can only think of one lefty umpire (now retired) – Ken Kaiser.

I also read something somewhere about the gameday operator setting something to match the height of the hitter and that doesn’t seem to happen to the cartoon man.

by ol Pete on Jul 22, 2008 9:53 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

MLB actually is putting that data in the .xml files

So they are getting it just not using it.

by ol Pete on Jul 22, 2008 9:55 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

thx

our fate for the next few years was sealed when Drayton went conventional and picked Ed Wade to be our GM. talk about the kiss of death.

it’s just that over the past decade i’ve developed an intense dislike of the redbirds and I’d like to see them fail miserably in the second half.

by lnewcomer on Jul 22, 2008 9:57 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Don't give up hope on the Astros yet (long term)

I agree Wade isn’t good but there is some bright spots. Drayton will open the purse when it is need too.

Visit my baseball blog ...or else!

by dixieflatline on Jul 22, 2008 9:59 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

there's a decent chance he overspends for Sheets or Sabathia in the offseason

no offense, but Sheets is more likely (it seems to me) b/c I think Sabathia is probably closer to being the elite pitcher.

if that does happen, we’ll be slightly improved over this year. might tread water for a couple years and see if Bobby Heck can rebuild the farm.

by lnewcomer on Jul 22, 2008 10:02 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Absolutely none taken

CC pitched his career in the AL and never has been hurt. If he gets less than Sheets on the market his agent didn’t do his job.

Well, tonight it seems like they got a punch in the gut. Lohse was outstanding and their bullpen spit it up.

are pissed about Hall. showboating a bit on his HR the past couple nights? that could be fun tomorrow.

by lnewcomer on Jul 22, 2008 10:03 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Have to say...

.... I thought his stroll out the box and the flip of the bat, not to mention the primal scream in the on deck circle were a bit over the line. Tony LaDrunk certainly isn’t above ordering a plunk. Given the history, it would be interesting to see how Yost reacts.

by molitorfan on Jul 22, 2008 10:49 PM CDT to parent up   1 recs

That's funny

I never really thought about how the Cards & Stros are natural enemies because of their frequent battles, while the Cubs & Brewers are because of geography, which leaves…the Reds and Pirates to fight for…what exactly?

by TheJay on Jul 22, 2008 10:06 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

yeah cards & stros

has mostly developed as a result of being around the top of the division since they realigned, plus several big playoff battles. not one of the big rivalries though b/c it’s relatively new.

i still maintain the biggest outcome from that pujols HR in the playoffs was not Lidge (he was already coming apart), but the fact that we had to use Oswalt in the following game and then start Clemens in game 1 of the WS outside in cold, windy chicago. not that i’m bitter or anything.

Why does everybody assume

That Mark A won’t sign either Sheets or CC this off season? There’s money coming off the books by a lot. Sometimes I think you need to look at MLB like the NBA a little.

I’ve felt this way from the time the CC deal was made. I almost feel like this could be its own thread.

Am I really alone on this?
