Topics of conversation on BCB
I only do this once in a blue moon, but I was sitting here watching the free preview of the MLB packagge on TWC, and got to thinking. "Self, before last season is totally forgotten, what have the main topics of conversation been this year at BCB?" I thought to myself, "that's not a bad question, self".
Last year I remember much of the bitching and rejoicing being over Estrada, 50 HR, Braun, and not being able to take walks as a team.
So, what has this season been about to you?
I won't even give options. Its open-ended.

Pitching
Most notably the downfall of Gagne, and rise of Torres who has performed way above my expectations for him. And the fact that we got the best Free Agent out their at the deadline, something the Brewers have never been able to do!

Hm, let me see...
Fielder’s diet no longer fried
Yovani Gallardo/Reed Johnson collide
Derrick Turnbow died
Gagne pitched, we cried
Bill Hall: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Ned Yost’s face, it ought to be pied
Russell came, HR were supplied
Jason Kendall’s got grit inside
Ben’s first half, a Cy Young was eyed
Guillermo Mota…at least he tried
Rickie has a “run scorer’s” stride
Ryan Braun = Milwaukee’s pride
Hart visits New York’s north side
CC Sabathia will turn the tide
Now the Cubs have begun to slide

Starting Pitching
Obviously the organization’s statement that they are not behaving like the Brewers we used to know, but became big time buyers with the acquistion of CC and also were very smart with the long term commitment to Ryan Braun.
But the true story in my mind has been the performance of the starting pitching following Gallardo’s freak injury. McClung, Bush, Sheets, Parra and Suppan have all performed extremely well and very healthy compared to years past. And of course Sabathia has been a beast. But the production from the bottom part of the rotation has been stellar and way above my expectations.
And in terms of topics of conversation… last year a lot, especially near the end of the year, the topics was often calling for Yost’s head and second guessing every move, this year, that hasn’t seemed to have been an issue, more just making fun of the fact that we have no concept. GRIT is the most discussion topic of conversation this year in my opinion.

yeah
I know I talk about it all time, but the rotation-especially the back end-is the (relatively) unsung hero so far.
Also, cheese.

I was thinking this was going to be a list of BCB inside jokes
FUentes
morineko’s grandma
kirbir’s Braunophilia
What are others? We really should get started on that wiki.

I agree
What would this season have been without my rantings and lustings after Brauntisaurus?
Well, and my secret affair with Jeff of course

For clarification
Being a Braunophile myself, and the father of a Braunophile (A representative quote from spring training: “Daddy, where’s Ryan Braun now?”), I need to know: what’s the correct spelling for the Brauny Lizard? Is it “Brauntasaurus”, “Brauntosaurus”, or “Brauntisaurus?” I think we need to come to a consensus here!
by Brew Angel on Jul 24, 2008 4:33 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Well, it's actually Apatosaurus...
Paleontology jokes aside, it has to be Brauntosaurus.

If I hadn't taken the 5-year-old to the Field Museum last month
I’d be like, “Huh?” The sad part is I actually knew immediately what you meant.
And I agree with the “o” spelling.

Brauntosaurus
Seems to sounds best
