Game Thread #101: Brewers (57-43) at Cardinals (57-45)
Matchup is CC Sabathia and Braden Looper. This is Looper's third start against the Crew this year; his first one was pretty good and his second wasn't as strong. Of course, it doesn't matter much what Looper does, since the offense will try to stay quiet so that Bill Hall can hit the game-winner in the 9th.
Game time is 7:15 CT, and here's the BR Game Preview.
Go Brewers!

Speaking of Hall
He’s starting again, so I wonder if he’ll see an inside pitch or two for taking his time out of the box on his home runs. Weeks is leading off again and Hart is back, too, batting fifth as usual. box

so, Cinci killer, Cardinals killer...
Is the secret that, when Bill Hall sees red, he…uh, sees red?

In addition to the complaining about Hall, I think its odd that people get upset that the team untucks their shirts after the game and that the outfielders “celebrate” or do the jump and bump. One guy who complained about the shirts described them as like a bunch of kids after church. Sure buddy.

The Brewers
Should act like they’re complete professionals, and at no point should appear to enjoy themselves…it really pisses off Cardinals fans.

If Sabathia improves his lifetime average to .300 or so
With another HR or two in July/August do you move him to the 8th, or even 7th spot ala Dontrell Willis for the end of the season?
I know the Zambrano is a good hitter but have never moved him up, but Ned has experiemented a lot with the lineup and it wouldn’t surprise me as CC is a legitimate hitter it seems
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.

I want to see him bat 2nd
with Corey in the leadoff spot. Greatest combined height and/or weight in the top two spots in the order in baseball history. (Probably.)

Worth mentioning
in BP postseason odds, Crew is up to 69%, including 33% of taking the Central. I know I’ve said this before, but keep in mind that those probably underestimate our chances, since they are based on performance for the entire season, and we improved our team more than any other team is likely to.
Also, cheese.

This seems like a good matchup
Looper/Sabathia is solidly in our favor, but it’s not so ridiculous as to tempt karmic retribution for our confidence (Rusch/Sheets).
