Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Game Thread #101: Brewers (57-43) at Cardinals (57-45)

Matchup is CC Sabathia and Braden Looper.  This is Looper's third start against the Crew this year; his first one was pretty good and his second wasn't as strong.  Of course, it doesn't matter much what Looper does, since the offense will try to stay quiet so that Bill Hall can hit the game-winner in the 9th.

Game time is 7:15 CT, and here's the BR Game Preview.

Go Brewers!

Speaking of Hall

He’s starting again, so I wonder if he’ll see an inside pitch or two for taking his time out of the box on his home runs. Weeks is leading off again and Hart is back, too, batting fifth as usual. box

In addition to the complaining about Hall, I think its odd that people get upset that the team untucks their shirts after the game and that the outfielders “celebrate” or do the jump and bump. One guy who complained about the shirts described them as like a bunch of kids after church. Sure buddy.

If Sabathia improves his lifetime average to .300 or so

With another HR or two in July/August do you move him to the 8th, or even 7th spot ala Dontrell Willis for the end of the season?

I know the Zambrano is a good hitter but have never moved him up, but Ned has experiemented a lot with the lineup and it wouldn’t surprise me as CC is a legitimate hitter it seems

The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.

I want to see him bat 2nd

Worth mentioning

in BP postseason odds, Crew is up to 69%, including 33% of taking the Central. I know I’ve said this before, but keep in mind that those probably underestimate our chances, since they are based on performance for the entire season, and we improved our team more than any other team is likely to.

Also, cheese.

Yes, yes, that is me

On the Colts blog it made a nice impact

"Pujols just unloaded." - Bob Uecker

It sucks not to have a lead here

But at least Looper is over 70 pitches. CC on the other hand is at 33 through 3 so another complete game isn’t out of the question.

And the STL announcers are making fun, good times.

It's weird

The two Cubs fans I know personally are completelty reasonable people who I can watch a ball game with, even a Cubs-Brewers game. Guess you get them in a group and it all just goes downhill.

I vote yes

I fully understand team loyalty, but I’m not gonna wear my Reds jersey to any game that doesn’t involve them.

I dunno

I feel like there’s a different standard for hats and shirts. I wear my Brewers (well, Pilots) hat everywhere, but if I had a Brewers jersey, I wouldn’t wear it to a non-Brewers game.
