Brewers still scouting George Sherrill
"The Marlins, Dodgers, Cardinals, Phillies and Brewers were among teams scouting the Orioles game on Tuesday night. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that the Cardinals were interested, and the Baltimore Sun reported interest from the Brewers in Sherrill, one of the All-Star heroes who's done a nice job in Baltimore (29 of 35 in saves, 3.89 ERA)."
Quote from that Baltimore Sun article:
"Ten days before the nonwaiver trade deadline, Orioles closer George Sherrill continues to be one of the most coveted players on the market, with the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers among the most aggressive suitors, according to industry sources.
The Orioles are believed to be seeking two or three prospects - one potentially being a shortstop - for the 31-year-old All-Star reliever."

"Two or three prospects"
Any idea what level of prospects. I wouldn’t mind seeing Sherrill, but I don’t want to give away anything really big anymore this year. No Gamel or Escobar for sure. If they want a shortstop, could the Hurricane possibly play there?

Almost certainly not
Brent Brewer is pretty much the only other tradeable quantity at short besides Escobar. Well, other than Hardy, but I hardly see our starting shortstop getting dealt in the middle of a pennant race for a set-up man. Who would do that?

I was curious if there were links or anything interesting. Nothing as far as I’ve looked but here is a trade idea:
Starting with Escobar, if the O’s could also get Gamel I don’t see how St. Louis could beat that offer. I don’t like what the Cardinals have to offer and feel the Brewers match up much better with our needs.

yeah right
i wouldn’t trade either or straight up for sherrill let alone both.
please tell me you think the same doug!

Sherril really scares me
He’s been a LOOGY most of his career, .522 OPS against lefties, .749 against righties. I wouldn’t give up too much to get him. I’m all for finding a good arm to add to the pen, but Sherril seems like a reach. Plus, he only throws about 89-90.
And neck size to baby eating ratio.

I think we missed the guy for the Brewers
Rauch… if there is another player like him to bolster the pen for the same price as AZ paid, I would be for it.
I have a feeling if we acquire a closer like FUentes or Sherrill or Street, they will blow multiple saves, some in a game like last night where CC goes 8 innings with a shut out and another possibly in the playoffs. I know another arm is another arm, but Sherrill is not the answer in my opinion.
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.

Maybe they're looking at one of the other expensive but not-as-good guys?
Chad Bradford or Jamie Walker?

What does it mean if I knew exactly where that link went before I saw it?
