what's with the phrase "go yard"?
why’d ESPN (or whoever) start that? doesn’t make sense.
by PagsBrewCrew on Jul 28, 2008 9:43 PM CDT up reply actions
I knew the '82 Crew was popular but I didn't realize they already had re-enacters
BCB's "very own marginally deserving all-star!"
Hey, those civil war guys
have to get some use out of that ridiculous facial hair when they’re not playing Bull Run… and 70’s and early 80’s baseball is the only other era where their mustaches make sense.

excellent point.

The only problem is that mutton chops weren't that popular in the 1860's...

there's a whole re-enactor industry
Someone must manufacture fake chops.

A lot of faith in Gagne
Keeping him in to face that lefty bat, man, I guess he’s “Keeping the ball down real well” ~ Yost
If he's the Prince, then I'm the King.
He's like Zorro's open-minded cousin.

fielder is on first and has to make it all the way to second.

He got caught in the vortex of foreign-named erstwhile Brewers pitching prospects that apparently leads right to Denver
Capellan, JDLR, and now VDLS.

hell…strike 2 wouldn’t have been/shouldn’t have been called a strike either.

uh, oh
where’s the solomon we all know and love?
and will they bring in counsell if they bring in a new pitcher?
Wow
Al from Bizarro BCB
And, a word to Brewer fans. I personally would love it if you would all take a cue from (most) Cardinal fans, who appreciate the rivalry and can discuss it without being nasty. I think it’s great that we have a division rival that’s a good team 90 miles from Chicago. Celebrate the rivalry, enjoy the games—but don’t hate. We don’t want to become like Yankee or Red Sox fans, now, do we?
Yeah, uh, if only the Brewers fans would chill out.
Also, cheese.
I like Al some days...
... but he turns into a sanctimonious prick whenever the Brewers and Cubbies play.
by Ted Simmons Speed Camp on Jul 28, 2008 10:16 PM CDT up reply actions
Can I just come right out and say that...
I do not like Cubs fans.
If he's the Prince, then I'm the King.
A lot of posters there are REALLY condescending.
"I think Hendry still has a few years to serve on his 'grand larceny' sentence before he can shop in Pittsburgh again" - ballhawk
I should ask Al whether my wife and I should have another kid.
Him being so wise and all…. :)
by Ted Simmons Speed Camp on Jul 28, 2008 10:18 PM CDT up reply actions
he had the nerve to say that the Brewers were basically built on the backs of Cubs fans
something about how the Cubs fans basically paid for the bottom 10 players or something
I like that things like that are posted on a site that had (has?) a 24 hour wait between joining and posting

It should be a 72 hour wait
So that they can’t post until this 4-gamer is over.

yeah
i considered that.

by Jeff Sackmann on Jul 28, 2008 10:22 PM CDT up reply actions
Of course, I'm sure someone will say that's unfair
They were just going to come over and brag about winning the game and all the nice plays the Cubs make and how it’s obvious the Cubs are better now and will be for the next decade and that’s all just part of sports, you monster, etc. Because that’s what fans do when they’re tired of celebrating with their fellow fans.

there must be something about the name al
that makes that person think they know it all, al ramblings, al bizarro bcb

Ouch
That half inning was painful to listen to
Half a league, half a league, half a league onward, all in the valley of death rode the Brewer's bullpen.
I missed it.
How many innings has Marmol pitched this year?

Obscure baseball records and more at my blog, Recondite Baseball.
that's a lot too.
but i guess that’s a pace for ~90 IP on the season, and Torres has handled that before.
Also, cheese.
by Jeff Sackmann on Jul 28, 2008 10:24 PM CDT up reply actions
Doesn't he have fewer appearances too?
I know he’s thrown more multiple inning appearances that Marmol… hasn’t he?

Nah.
Parra’s got as much chance at befuddling the Cubs as Dempster does the Brewers.
by Ted Simmons Speed Camp on Jul 28, 2008 10:33 PM CDT up reply actions
Harden might go seven at best, right?
As long as Bush keeps the game close it’ll be okay.
