Doh!

I posted that in the Frosty Mug.

This line up is almost max grit. Put in Ray, and look out.. Grit would go critical and we’d weakly line drive the Cubs to death. Kind of like they’ve done (well not weak shots)

I'd have less of a problem with him...

... if we weren’t getting virtually the exact same thing out of Hall and Weeks offensively. It seems logical to me that you’re far more likely to go through extended periods of low RISPBA when you’ve got three .230 hitters in the lineup most days, regardless of the fact that they’ve all got between 9 and 15 HRs. The pop they offer is nice, but you can’t really expect consistant offensive production when those guys make up 1/3 of your lineup. The fact that Hart is really struggling while getting opportunities to drive in runs magnifies the flaws of Hall and Cameron, in my opinion. My perception (and it’s probably flawed) is that Cameron isn’t playing as well defensively lately either, though not nearly as bad as Hart has been.

Am I wrong on all that? Probably, But it’s what I think.

I completely agree.

Hart has been horrible as of late. I guess i would rather see him in the lineup and have Kaplar play for Cam. One last thing, remember the talk about how Cam always goes first to third on singles, I really can’t remember a time he’s done that all year.

by brewfan2 on Jul 31, 2008 11:08 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I agree

with Hall, Weeks, and Cam it is going to be feast or famine. When it is famine that means alot of guys in scoring position are going to get stranded.

He's a vet!

Whats there not to understand! Who cares if Kapler could be better than him. I mean the man won a Gold Glove for cryin out loud.

(I’m not entirely sure why but I seem to have developed a strong hatred for the man this season.)

I think Kendall needs a day off.

for whatever it's worth

And it’s probably not much, I just spent a few minutes screwing around with Baseball Musings’ lineup analysis tool and found this to be the best possible Brewer lineup:

2B Durham
LF Braun
CF Kapler
1B Fielder
3B Branyan
C Rivera
SS Hardy
RF Hart
Pitcher

It’s not very similar to this one…

Derek Jeter is day to day after being hit by a pitch and being gorilla press slammed by a Bizarro Ray.

In general

Derek Jeter is day to day after being hit by a pitch and being gorilla press slammed by a Bizarro Ray.

Yep.

Hence my decision to call it “screwing around” as opposed to “in-depth study.”

nice.

go get em' seth!

by Jamie in LA on Jul 31, 2008 11:52 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I'd take that one

with the possible exception of Counsell replacing Branyan at 3B. We need to work the counts today to force Harden’s pitch count up as fast as possible, IMO.

by oconnobe on Jul 31, 2008 10:53 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Best. Poll. Ever.

I don’t feel I can criticize the lineup because:

1) I’m not qualified.

2) What the hell? Nothing else is working.

I wish I had a fast forward button so we could skip through the rest of whatever’s ailing Hart. He looks awful lately, both at the plate and in the field.
