Rumorville: Trade Deadline

The only rumor I hear with the Brewers attached is the Rangers giving us Eddie Guardado for... nothing mentioned yet, but they are looking for pitching prospects.

according to Rosenthal at Fox Sports, the Griffey to the white sox deal is done.  It apparently includes Lance Broadway according to 670 the Score in chicago.

Other rumors I've seen around:

It wouldn't be a good trade deadline post without Manny talk.  Here's what i understand.  Red Sox get Bay, Prospects from Marlins including OF Mike Stanton. Pirates get Hermida and John Grabow.  Marlins get Manny.  Feel free to correct the hell out of this.

The Braves are looking to unload Will Ohman.  no destinations discussed from what I've seen.

The Dodgers are trying to pry Greg Maddox from the Padres,

The M's, desparate to make a move, are still asking too much for Jarrod Washburn, but may be lowering their asking price.

Feel free to conitinue with things you hear

UPDATE

Griffey going to the sox for Nick Masset and Danny Richar

by Hyatt on Jul 31, 2008 10:49 AM CDT   0 recs

I think Kenny Williams...

set his sights on about a half-dozen players five years ago, and has tried non-stop to acquire them since then. He got Cabrera, now he’s getting Griffey…maybe Bill Hall is next?

Also, cheese.

According to Rosenthal

The Maddux deal is dead, and the Yankees are interested in Paul Byrd

Gammons just reported

The Manny deal is close to dead. The Marlins want $2 mil in addition to the $7 mil to cover Manny’s contract for Hermida and two prospects. This would essentially make the deal Manny, two prospects, and 9 million for Jason Bay.

Good for the Brewers in the Wildcard race

if the Marlins don’t acquire Manny.

Two new items

Most interestingly, The Blue Jays are making a play for Jason Bay. with a package including Travis Snider, and two other prospects.

The Rangers are most likely not moving Gerald Laird unless a much more substantial offer comes about.

Latest post from SI's Heyman
The Marlins are still pushing to acquire Rangers catcher Gerald Laird, but the teams have been unable to agree on which of the Marlins’ starting pitchers the Rangers would receive, according to major-league sources.

The Marlins completed one trade Thursday morning, acquiring left-handed reliever Arthur Rhodes from the Mariners for minor-league pitcher Gaby Hernandez, sources confirmed.

That deal, first reported by ESPN.com, figures to end the Marlins’ pursuit of Pirates left-hander John Grabow in their three-way talks with the Pirates and Red Sox regarding Sox left fielder Manny Ramirez.

The Ramirez trade remains on hold as the Red Sox try to assemble the prospects necessary to acquire left fielder Jason Bay from the Pirates.

The Marlins have informed the Red Sox they will part with outfielder Jeremy Hermida and a prospect, but no more.

It’s succinct enough to where summarizing it would be dumb.

Brewers to get Rhodes or Easy Eddie

(allegedly)

At the very least, Rhodes is the closest to a sure-thing trade you’re ever going to get on a team as bad as the Mariners. They have to deal him. You have a shot at getting a young possibility back and that’s better than clinging to an old one that isn’t going to help this team when it matters. I’d say it’s down to the Marlins and Brewers, both of which are also scouting Eddie Guardado. One will wind up with Florida, the other with Milwaukee.

"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"

Bay to the Rays

Jason Bay to the Rays for Niemann and Brignac.

Brewers won’t be getting Rhodes, as he’s already been dealt to the Marlins.

jumped the gun...

Bay to the Red Sox, Manny to the Dodgers, Brandon Moss, Craig Hansen, Andy LaRoche, and Bryan Morris to the Rats.

I don’t really understand what the Dodgers plan to do with their OF now, as obviously Manny plays everyday, but what about Kemp, Ethier, Pierre, and Jones? This looks like a much better haul for the Pirates than the Rays deal mentioned earlier.

WHY DIDN'T WE GET MANNY!!!

It would’ve been such a defensive upgrade. =)
