Game Thread #109: Cubs (64-44) at Brewers (60-48)

Chicago Cubs @ Milwaukee Brewers

If we're in the bizarro world where Sheets and Sabathia lose on back-to-back days, does that mean that the Brewers can beat Harden, too?  With these guys, especially Dave Bush, you never know.

Game time is 1:05 CT, and here's the BR Game Preview.

Go Brewers!

Let's hope so.

Any way to scratch out a win today would be fine with me.

HBP

If you are going to hit him at least make it worthwile

That’s what I was thinking

by ol Pete on Jul 31, 2008 1:09 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

just talked to the boss

She said she has already seen five buses from Illinois headed to the game and she is stuck in traffic surrounded by Illinois traffic. She is amazed at the number of people who drive up alone and the number that are in complete Cub outfits.

More classic Weeks!

The Bambi's Bombers won because they played the game like kids! Let's do that again!!!

I don’t blame him for not seeing the ball but please just run hard.

Weeks has to go

He cannot be our every day 2nd baseman next season he is not improving if anything he is regressing as the season goes on.

If Loving CC is wrong I do not want to be right

by WSB Chris on Jul 31, 2008 1:24 PM CDT   0 recs

why not drunk he could do it better than Weeks

This team is going need wholesale changes next season

The many changes it needs in the line-up

Is a couple of guys that can get on base. Having 3 guys that hit .230 just does not cut it.

by oconnobe on Jul 31, 2008 1:28 PM CDT   0 recs

I doubt it makes much difference.

Should be a fun one!

Staring at a five game losing streak

and Yost has that “deer in the headlights” look.

Good teams have their lineups “managed” on a daily basis. Everyone stays fresh. On the contrary, Yost pretty much mailed in his lineup in the spring. Look at Rivera’s productivity and non-use.

Yost’s allegiance to Weeks is unforgivable. Weeks appears to have a concentration problem despite a lot of natural skill. Despite a “good pop” and speed, he’s not performing at a MLB level. He’s into his third year of being downright embarrassing.

Defenders of Yost , have at it…..

by heybatterbatter on Jul 31, 2008 1:50 PM CDT   0 recs

i'd rather have a lineup of

C Kendall
SS Hardy
LF Braun
1b Fielder
3b Hall/Branyan
RF Hart
CF Cameron/Kapler
2b Weeks/Durham

And maybe put Rivera

at lead-off every fourth game. Slow, but a HITTER. Kapler can lead off, too.

It’s a start, anyway….

Amusing

Last year some people were upset the lineup changed so much.

"And the Brewers are powerless to score

time after time with RISP!” Absolutely no effin’ plate discipline. You’re supposed to be eligible for “time off” when you forget to “protect the plate.”
