As much as he deserves it, I'd rather seem him get the days off so he can rest that hand.

Discussion Question
We should pull the trigger on the LaPorta+ for Sabathia trade because
A) We probably won’t be able to resign Bennie Goldmedal in the offseason and this is our best shot at the playoffs for a while, at least
B) LaPorta is blocked by position in our system
C) If you take out Sabathia’s awful start to the season and normalize his stats for park and defense, he becomes not just a very good starter, but an elite one
D) “P” will finally have someone to make late-night runs to Taco Bell with him for 99 cent Cheesy Bean and Rice Burritos
E) All of the above, plus sometimes in life you have to take chances. Not trading for Sabathia is the safe & boring way out.
It sounds like Melvin put his best offer out there.
The trigger has been pulled, unless you’re asking if Melvin should knuckle under and give up a 2nd AA prospect along with LaPorta, which is reportedly what the Indians are looking for. SI put a not so informative rumors post up a couple of hours back that listed 4 other teams, the Cubs included, who were pursuing Sabathia, that more or less read like a direct leak from Cleveland’s front office.

funny enough...
i am hoping they dont trade laporta; cause i had him sign my all-time brewers jersey at spring training. oops.
go get em' seth!
A) True, I still have hope that the team does well this year and Ben is tempted by a short term deal
B) Not really, he is very young.
C) Yeah
D) Picture playing the Nationals and Dmitri Young squibs one to Prince. CC goes to cover first and the three converge. It would be close to a half ton.
E) LaPorta could also be part of a trade that would be better later, but yeah, with the limitations of a 25 man roster there is an opportunity
Just the TV guys saying that if the deal doesn’t get done so that he can start Teusday, the value would diminish.
I think the Indians know this as well and will move him before then. I think by the end of the day today a deal will be made. I hope CC ends up in Milwaukee, but I’m sure phone calls today will determine that.

I think we'll know one way or another
by the end of today’s game.
And neck size to baby eating ratio.
I think that he's going to be successful
not only because of the fact that he’s switching leagues and he’ll have the “never seen before” benefit of the doubt, and the fact that he’s due for quite a few homers…
I'm so antsy!
I can’t even focus on this Chicken Noodle Soup out on the mound because of these rumors… my goodness.
So Hot Right Now!
"He's been very, very impressive," Yost said. "I mean really impressive. I mean really, really impressive."
back to back!
"He's been very, very impressive," Yost said. "I mean really impressive. I mean really, really impressive."
Great start!
Soup’s got some runs to work with

Brauny made it

Melvin better get on the phone NOW!!!
The Wallbangers won because they played the game like kids! Let's do that again!!!
Miguel Tejada is a JOKE: 10 HR, .319 OBP
J.J. Hardy is third in the MLB in OPS among shortstops, behind Hanley Ramirez and barely behind Jose Reyes. I was just going to comment that he could make it behind Guzman, but not when Tejada is wasting a spot. And they have Berkman- it’s not like the Astros need someone. It’s also a joke that Pat Burrel isn’t on the roster.
And neck size to baby eating ratio.
Reaffirming this point
Hardy: .289 .355 .466 .821 11 HR
Tejada: .282 .319 .437 .756 10 HR
And neck size to baby eating ratio.
Agree agree agree
with Burrel not being there being foolish.
A lot of players have bonuses based on ASG appearances
You’d think it would make Pat want to return to Philly less although maybe he doesn’t want to in the first place.
That's also quite an AL Starting Lineup
60% Yankees/Red Sox
Derek Jeter OPS: .756
J.J. Hardy OPS: .821
And neck size to baby eating ratio.
Burrell is one of the final 5
Along with Hart,Wright,Rowland and C.Lee
If Hart wins that vote I will be very pleasantly surprised
yeah
Ryan almost became the top vote-getter for the NL.

The Wallbangers won because they played the game like kids! Let's do that again!!!
If he keeps this up the Milwaukee boo birds
are gonna rail him into tears like they have done to no other player before.
OK Corey
10 more votes for you!

Sabathia threads
After the game, I’m going to make a new Sabathia fanshot and frontpage it, so we can move all trade rumors discussion there; it’s currently spread out over two threads (both started by me—my bad) and things are getting linked twice and even thrice.
He's extremely quick and good.
A lot going on
Sabathia trade rumors, Braun all star starter, JJ’s hit streak, Hart’s final player vote, the Crew sneaking closer to both the division lead and the wild card berth. So much for July being a slow sports month.
By that time
The trade is probably done and we can have a CC is a Brewer thread.

I like this JJ... a lot!
"He's been very, very impressive," Yost said. "I mean really impressive. I mean really, really impressive."
I wish I could remember which local talk radio guy
referred to him as “light hitting” about two weeks ago
Melvin
Go get CC and sign Hart for long term, NOW!!!!!
The Wallbangers won because they played the game like kids! Let's do that again!!!
10 more votes for Corey on MLB.com!

by that i mean
There is only about another 40mins before it will be no more daylight
They don’t have floodlights at Wimbledon
In case you were curious
Turnbow has his ERA down to 9.19!!! Maybe the Indians would consider Suppan and Turnbow for CC!!
The Wallbangers won because they played the game like kids! Let's do that again!!!
Legendary
Can’t say I’ve ever seen tennis better than that. Was too young for McEnroe/Borg in, what was it, 1980?
Anyway, wow.

Anybody know where Fielder and Braun rank
in avg. with RISP, It may just be me but I feel like i see this scenario so often, ducks on the pond, Braunny and Prince coming up, and the runners dont move an inch
Riske is fine
just NO Mota or Shouse!!
The Wallbangers won because they played the game like kids! Let's do that again!!!
Why
is Hart sitting? Ned is a prick!
The Wallbangers won because they played the game like kids! Let's do that again!!!
You have no concept
The certainty that Hart will lose at bats is offset by the uncertainty that the pitchers spot would come up where we needed an actual hitter at the plate. Clearly it is better to prepare for the uncertain, unlikely to happen event rather than the certain.
This is the man that was worried about the triple play earlier this year.

He has won the last 2 Grand Slams
Beating Federer both times – straight sets the last time at the French Open
SI just woke up from a week-long slumber
Brewers appear to have taken the lead in the Sabathia sweepstakes
Hey, I think I heard something about that…maybe from Badger Blogger?
He's extremely quick and good.
Rankings, schmankings
What does it matter who’s No. 1 in the world? It’s these two guys, and then everybody else.
Anyway, I still can’t believe the epic-ness of that match. Hey, aren’t the Brewers on right now or something? Maybe I should click over to FSN.
We got 'em
Ramblings has a link to a blog that says Sabathia is on his way.
Not the most definitive report, obviously, but here it is. Get your tickets for Tuesday.
Go here
albethke.blogspot.com
It’s also linked to at mlbtraderumors.com
It’s super shaky, but where there’s smoke there’s fire, I say. Figured Mark A. would tell Doug to just get it done.

Damn it!
I had tickets in a suite if I wanted em for Tuesday’s game. I may have to check if they’re still available.

what are the Brewers slugging for this game?
I think there’s beens something like 9 doubles and homers already
it's like a team of Branyans
can’t make the Laporta anymore :(

Corey
would have made that a triple!
The Wallbangers won because they played the game like kids! Let's do that again!!!
YHNC
That ball was grit powered. Almost 2.5 KUGs were involved.
Sabathia update
Rambling Al updates with a link to the source of the Sabathia trade confirmation. The blogger is the Indians beat writer for MLB.com
Incredible day for being a sports fan. Federer/Nadal living history happens on my TV, and the Brewers go big time and trade for Sabathia. Win now. Great philosophy. Let’s see what happens now …
In other prospect news
Jonathan Lucroy homered twice, and Stosh Wawrzasek made his first start (against Rich Hill!), but it didn’t go well.
He's extremely quick and good.
Jeremy Jeffress
He “started” today for BC, entering the game in the 4th inning, and struck out 10 in 5 innings of work, but gave up 7 runs (5 earned) on 5 hits and 4 walks.
He's extremely quick and good.
Mota still sucks!
The Wallbangers won because they played the game like kids! Let's do that again!!!
I'd rather see a "fresh"
Mota stepping to the mound than a “fresh” Suppan…

it it in a different uniform I don’t care!

Anybody catch the post-game press conference with Yost?
He was talking about J.J. Hardy’s hot streak and said,
“I don’t even think Babe Ruth had a stretch like this.”
Oh, dear goodness. We’re all slowly becoming bumbling homers.
didn't
but yesterday he said something like he didn’t know that JJ had a hitting streak. Then he sort of contradicted himself and said he was scared of a double play because of the one that had happened earlier in the game.
I think he’s sort of accomplished what George Bush did. People are numb to the content of his comments and just accept that he’s not going anywhere.
By the way
From the AP recap:
Milwaukee last had nine doubles and 12 extra-base hits in an extra-inning game against Philadelphia on May 15, 2001.That’s actually the team record; the nine doubles ties the team record too, accomplished four times.
He's extremely quick and good.
