Game Thread #89: Rockies (37-52) at Brewers (49-39)
We're starting Seth McClung, and they're starting Ubaldo Jimenez. Most importantly, we have CC Sabathia, and they don't.

Did you airbrush Shouse out of that picture?
I could’ve sworn he was in there somewhere.
Also, cheese.

speaking of whom...
nice confidence-boosting game yesterday for all three of our relievers who seemed to labour a bit of late.
so many awesome pics posted lately... nice work, dudes.
GO SETHHHHHHHH!!!!!
(im still a bit sad that i havent gotten a shot out in the game thread intro even ONCE when he starts, jeff… that is just messed up)

I shall take that under consideration.

Yost just said on the radio pre-game show
that Suppan hyperextended his elbow on a swing about a month ago and has been labouring through that. Take it for what it’s worth…
did they also find
that he had a mechanical adjustment that needed to be made
or perhaps that he was tipping his pitches?

whoohoo!
i’m going to watch me some brewer games:
MLB.com has just announced this offer for those who vote in this now time-honored process:
• If you are not a current MLB.TV subscriber (MLB.TV or MLB.TV Premium), then you are eligible to receive a one week free trial of MLB.TV Premium from July 11-18. That will amount to five full days of the regular season. A valid e-mail address is required for the offer.
====
of course, I think that coincides with the San Francisco series. Can I choose another week, please?;)
oooh, oooh..
is CC projected to pitch the Giants series? I suppose that won’t be known until right before (or right after) the ASB.
I’ve already seen Sheets and Santana match up. It’d be fun to see another Cy Young past or future.
supposedly
he’s going to start both the last game before the ASB (the 13th) as well as the first one afterwards (18th), assuming they don’t end up moving away from the latter idea until then. So you might have two CC starts in that week.
isn't that the series with the complete Saturday blackout?
I’ve noticed that whenever I wanted to see Tim Lincecum pitch, the games would be blacked out. Ugh, West Coast starts and the stupid FOX monopoly.
I just buy it...
Only way to catch Brewers games in Australia…
Unless I go to the sports bar at 10:00 in the morning.
Looks like
Seth is motivated! CC “encouragement”?
The Wallbangers won because they played the game like kids! Let's do that again!!!
Greetings from the Windy City!
Hello Brewers fans! I have a question that I haven’t been able to find the answer to.
LaPorta was drafted by the Brewers in the June 2007 draft but I don’t think he signed until August. As far as I understood, teams could not trade players for one year. Is that one year from when they draft a player or sign a player?
Thanks and congrats on getting CC.
Hey, it's a new century!
that's us
violating rules, left and right :)
maybe they could rephrase it to be PTBL #2, as indians don’t need LaPorta quite yet;)
What's the temperature over at Bizarro BCB
regarding the CC deal?
I’d check on my own, but I can’t stomach that place.

Fruit Loops and Bile is a good name for that place
Mostly people saying it isn’t enough. They were better before and still are. Its a good thing cuz we’ll stink after this year now.
My favorite though is how they’re licking their chops because they pound left handers.
It's still just rumors and innuendo!
Boy, Milwaukee sure would look stupid if this blew up in their faces! Ha Ha Ha! Just remember Cubs fans, the sexy move is not necessarily the right move! Ho Ho Ho!
He's extremely quick and good.
And Sabathia has a 30+ ERA against the Cubs!
Sure, it’s one (1) start, but it’s indicative of…something!
I am shocked
that a package of Cedeno and Gallagher didn’t get it done.
But no pie.. if you don’ t think Cedeno and Gallagher is enough then maybe Murton.
i wish MLB writers
would stop calling the
Pirates Bucs (that’s a florida football team…or a homophone of a Wisconsin basketball team)
or the Rockies the Rox (I keep thinking Red sOX whenever I see that) – why not Rocks?
not to mention the...
Seriously, “Bucs” always annoys me, too. But then I’m somehow mis-wired anyway and tend to read “Tribe” as “Twins”. Doesn’t help that both teams are in the same division.
Actually the Pittsburgh Buc(caneer)s were first
Before Tampa Bay or the Milwaukee NBA franchise.

How the hell do you do it???
The Wallbangers won because they played the game like kids! Let's do that again!!!
Zach Braddock having a good game
8 K’s in 6 innngs, 2 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks. He’s really unhittable. If he can just cut down on the walks, he can really be something.
He's extremely quick and good.
Great recovery there
Seth seems to have a knack for that. Kind of like Rickie has a knack for scoring runs. Or maybe I have no concept.
He's extremely quick and good.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure
you have no concept.

If that would do it...
what are you waiting for?
The Wallbangers won because they played the game like kids! Let's do that again!!!
hmmm
I predict, Chicago in an attempt to f*ck with us after this season (because we will destroy them this season) will
a) get bought out by Cuban
b) Cuban will hire Jack Z. as GM for the cubs
c) we won’t get compensatory pick goodness from Sheets or Sabathia.
Pete, I just want to clarify
Were you correcting me, that the title of the SBN Cubs blog was “Bleed Cubbie Blue” and not “Bleed Cubbie Bleed”?
He's extremely quick and good.
no, just being conversational. They can be bleed cubbie bleed, but hey, if they want to bleed blue, I say let it be.
I do like Fruit Loops and Bile though.
gameday says he didn't
unfortunately McLelland is the ump. Should’ve grooved one to a pitcher trying to bunt though.
the lament of the television-unequipped
I can tell McClung is walking people. The question I can’t answer is why. Is he back to trying to blow things by everyone? Is his fastball slow? (the ‘dead arm’ excuse) Is his curveball off? Or is his mind floating off somewhere that isn’t the pitcher’s mound at Miller Park?
I am giving Seth
the middle one for this start.

the All-Star break cannot come too soon
And here I was planning on trying to get to Milwaukee to see his start on Saturday. Looks like I may be better off with my plan B of seeing the Sounds play in Des Moines the week after next.
Somebody wake up Yost

I wonder
if Seth’s elbow hurts? I heard he hyperextended it during BP a while back ;-)

there are two C's in his name...
but we only got one new pitcher.

well, maybe...
Just got a call from my infamous mother.
“He’s walking too many people.” Yes, Mom, I know.
“He’s gained about 20 pounds since the last time I saw him start.” (This would be the start against the Twins, I believe.)
Well, if he wants to try emulating CC that way, I guess….
He does look well fed.
When they showed him in the dugout, his face was flushed, so tell mom that Seth was very unhappy.
Melvin did say in the presser
when asked if they were banking on Sabathia for two starts before the ASB when working out the trade, that they were actually banking on him for four starts. So it could happen.
in case you haven't noticed
we haven’t won the game yet, nor were we in the lead when villy came in;)
Well done Carlos.
The way McClung was pitching this could have been a lot worse, 2 runs over 5 innings isn’t so bad.
"My thing is that you guys eat meat all day and you can't hit a ball. That's my thing." - P. Fielder
It's even in line with his FIP
5 K, 5 BB, 0 HR = ~ 4.30 FIP. Actual ERA for the game: 3.86.
(Yes, I realize that’s pretty silly.)
This High Life guy is actually watching the game
And if McClung’s his favorite pitcher, I guess the High Life guy is Jamie.

wow...
they had CV come in when he was scheduled for 2nd in the next inning…
without pulling out corey hart in the double switch?
cv is walking him
to make the opposing pitcher come up this inning or get taken out.
those pickoff throws are deadly.
Bad call

damn

pitcher change with 2 outs, bases cleared
if it had been inside-the-park, the opposing manager would have been laughing too hard to pull the pitcher.

dude, I can’t believe how distressed the bleed cubbie bleed fans were over your avatar. I never knew what it was, but after they proclaimed it was “incendiary” and other nonsense I had to look at your profile.
Who knew that a drawing could bring out such a reaction
What’s ironic is that a regular poster on their site has the exact same avatar. So they’ve obviously seen it before.
