Suppan to DL
No link yet (add one when you find it), but ESPN Radio Madison is reporting that Suppan is heading to the DL with elbow pain.
As crappy as he's been, hopefully this isn't serious. There's still a few dollars invested in him the next couple years.
Excuse me while I break out my tinfoil hat, but I hope this is just a break for him--much like I suspect Gagne's stint on the DL was an effort to give him a break to get things straight while he figured things out.

Well this certainly clears up
who is taking the bullet when C.C. gets to town. Thanks Suppan, we owe ya one.
An earlier post today from yours truly....
I wouldn’t assume Suppan is “safe”
given his recent outings. Is he injured? He seems able to come back from his disastrous first 70 pitches. What’s going on with him anyway?
(I bet we still don’t know.)

i very much doubt
that this is serious. It is simply too well-timed. Instead, we found a way to push the one starter struggling the most out of the rotation for a time and delayed making a roster move in the process. Hopefully this lets him get straightened out.

it can still be stronger
if it is less taxed—i.e. we don’t have to dig into it very deeply.

i assume
we’re now looking at McClung, CC, Parra, Sheets, Bush, McClung, CC up to the break.

Unless
they decide to keep Sheets on Wednesday, his normal rest, to give him more rest before the All-Star game.
you're right
TH says Sheets will pitch Wednesday. Parra being held back to Friday. Bush Thursday.

Too bad
Sheets, Sabathia, and Suppan could have been a good 6-7 IP/GS group in the rotation.

Starts missed
With the upcoming all-star break, his spot in the rotation probably will only come up 2 times in the next 15 days. They probably felt it was a good time to get himself straightened out.
Grrrrr
ESPN is showing Parra as Wednesday’s starter. As pumped as I am about the acquisition, I have tickets for Wednesday, so this move means I get neither CC or Sheeter…bummer.

solution: get tickets to a game they do pitch

I'd love to.
Sadly, my finances are extremely tight, and I’m relying on the BP C’mon Back Club for all of my Brewer tickets this year.

He'd be eligible to return on the 22nd
that’s the fifth game after the ASB, so he could still slot in nicely into the first post-ASB run through the rotation.
wow...
crazy like a fox, these front office guys.
Also, cheese.

another alternative
Another possibility is that Suppan has been gutting it out despite hurting, which is why the Brewers needed to make the CC move earlier rather than later. They wouldn’t make this news public, for fear of losing some negotiating position.
Just another alternative to the “Suppan is just taking one for the team” theory.
Good Point
Might explain his last few starts, but we still had Villy in the PB who could spot started.
This sucks
I really think he’ll get it back together again soon. He has went through stretches like this before and come back looking shiny.
Hmmm
I heard Suppan came down with “Suckypitchingitis.”
Parra
Whats the deal with him now? He threw relief last night so does that mean he’s out of the rotation? I was a tad confused.
