Someone just told Ned
the NASCAR season has been cancelled due to fuel prices!
The Wallbangers won because they played the game like kids! Let's do that again!!!

Or is that a picture of Ned on prostate cancer screening day at Miller Park?

Trenni sez: "CC, thank you so much for joining us."
I couldn’t agree more.
He's extremely quick and good.

Rusch vs. Sheets tomorrow says Bob
ESPN has Reynolds. Anyone know who is right? If it is Glendon I really like our chances. JDLR after that against Bush who is pitching a lot better.

from a notes thing in Rocky Mountain News
Rockies left-handed pitcher Glendon Rusch said he was told he will start Wednesday’s game against his former Milwaukee teammates. Rusch pitched for the Brewers during the 2002 and 2003 season

It was technically a Quality Start
but we need to see those BB numbers come down…..
by Brew Angel on Jul 8, 2008 10:18 PM CDT 0 recs
That hasn't been a problem for him at all recently
So unless it happens again in his next few starts I am not too concerned.

It better be Kendall wearing off on him and not Moises Alou.

No worries
He was overpitching a bit, as should be expected with the environment he suddenly found himself debuting in. I doubt Sabathia will give up 5 walks very often, and the fact that he got the win in the one game he did struggle with control bodes well.
3.00 ERA, quality start, win, can’t ask for much more than that.

Oh yeah
I agree that it bodes well for the future, considering that we won in a game where it appears he didn’t have his best stuff. I’m just looking forward to seeing the good stuff. Hopefully in his starts against the Cards and Cubs at the end of the month!

Yeah, it's nice to get his first start out of the way against a team like the Rockies
He's extremely quick and good.

I give the Rockies hitters a lot of credit
CC was throwing a lot of nasty sliders that many of their players were just not swinging at. I expect that to change when they face teams that don’t have as good of eyes.

Jake Odorizzi
His first game is tomorrow, I just found out.
He's extremely quick and good.

Is your source one of these guys again?

Anyway, I’ll be following that live box score. Odorizzi is the man.

From the Rocky Mountain News
Stat: 15 losses for the Rockies in 23 games at Miller Park (.348), lowest winning percentage of any National League team. Arizona is the second lowest at 9-16 (.360).

Since when does Mike Cameron not wear batting gloves?
Anyone else notice that lately? I just picked that out tonight.

So here's the initial KUG formula, subject to revision:
Sacrifices+bunt hits + (singles/total hits) + delayed stealsdivided by
Home runs + Errors
If you have anything to add, let me know. I’ll create an official KUG leaderboard one of these days.

I saw that
too bad the total data isn’t available, that’s an interesting stat for pitchers anyway.
Oh, and consider HBP added to the formula.

This article makes me think something should be included to take into account pitches seen after 2 strikes, i.e. balls, pitches fouled off, the batter “hanging in there”. The whole “fighting off a pitch” has a very gritty connotation to it. Essentially something that takes into account those 9 or so plus pitch at bats.
"He's been very, very impressive," Yost said. "I mean really impressive. I mean really, really impressive."

Ha!
I was going to write up an article during the all star break to pass some time. Should be slow news days right?
I found that Kendall does get HBP a lot, and his slugging – obp is scary close.
