I'll take a four-game wild card lead and a side of fries (with mayonnaise, in honor of Brett Lawrie), please.

I gotta say...

that game was really easy on my blood pressure. I could get used to this

"I think this decision could go either way," Baseball Tonight legal analyst John Kruk said.

I'm off tomorrow...

damn right I’ll be up.

HBO On Demand & Cinemax On Demand have my brain twisted.

Nice, I underestimated your taste in softcore

I am also decidedly Anti-SoftCore

if you're decidedly anti-softcore

how is Cinemax even part of your decision?

I had that lovely channel for 3 months for standard cable pricing. Totally distorted my impression of typical male-female interactions, but it was a small price to pay.

Expecting a pizza delivery any time soon?

If anyone stays up to watch Canada, let us know if Lawrie pinch hits

as far as I can tell, there is no DH in Olympic baseball.

Lawrie’s not starting, and live commentary guy said this:

Catcher Chris Robinson to lead off the fifth. Team Canada had some other options behind the plate, including 2008 first-round pick Brett Lawrie and Rangers prospect Emerson Frostad. However, the team went for defense.

And neck size to baby eating ratio.

by jihad on Aug 12, 2008 11:43 PM CDT   0 recs

I'm pretty sure Lawrie didn't get in the game

I lied

He subbed in at LF in the 8th inning but didn’t bat.

Coshun has some balls

Yeah, Prince kinda ignored it in his answer

I repeated "you know" every time he said it

and the normally mild mannered one kept telling me to shut up when it rolled into the teens

by ol Pete on Aug 13, 2008 8:08 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Prince's favorite phrase

is “you know.” He says it t least 57 times in every interview.

Nice

When it’s mid-August and the worst ERA in your starting rotation is 4.56, things are going well.

Related: the Brewers now have the second-lowest starting pitcher ERA (3.90) and the most innings thrown by starters (740.1 – no other team within 20) in the NL. The Cubs are tops in ERA with 3.78.

That Cubs ERA is fuckin’ sick.

10 fewer ER allowed by Brewers starters this year

In the same 740.1 innings would be a 3.78 ERA.

From McCalvy:

With 33 road wins, the Brewers have surpassed their total from all of last season.
Wow.

by battlekow on Aug 13, 2008 2:56 AM CDT   0 recs

Another marker of road mediocrity:

The Chicago Cubs are currently on pace for only 35 road wins this season.

Ryan Braun: He loves it.

7 in a row!

And don’t look now, but Houston’s won 6 in a row. They’re only 4.5 games back of the Cards, and have played 3 fewer games.

"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"

Since May 20th

Brewers Pitching 76 games 7CG 6SHO 212BB 533K 3.47ERA

Cubs Pitchers 73 Games 1CG 1SHO 240BB 584K 3.88ERA

Is there pitching really any better?

by grant76 on Aug 13, 2008 9:13 AM CDT   0 recs

Yeah; Webb, Peavy, Santana, Lincecum and Volquez would be a better starting rotation.

Oh wait…..you meant is their pitching any better. Whoops.

Wait, what?

by NoahJ on Aug 13, 2008 9:43 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Aw crap!

That is one of my biggest pet peeves! Not as bad as you’re/your or its/it’s, but I hate it when I violate my own rules.

Another pet peeve is no edit option.

by grant76 on Aug 13, 2008 9:50 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

i only recently re-mastered it's/its

I confused myself for about two years, but it’s alright…i got it down now:)

The task for the next year: get who/whom straight.
