crap...his wife is pregnant?

i mean, that’s awesome and all, but she’s due near the end of the season.

Sounds like the Cubs at work...

"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"

Heh

Remember last year when Cubs fans complained Ray Oswalt had to miss a start against us to be with his wife when labor was induced?

“He should’ve waited a day! It’s a pennant race!” – yeah, ok.

well...there's some truth to that...

if it’s induced, unless it’s induced because of (pre)eclampsia or some other medical condition a day or two on either side won’t really do any damage. If it’s a starter, they kinda know when their turn in the rotation is, as does the family.

Maybe there was a family reason they picked the day they did

Maybe Oswalt didn’t want to fly across the country right after pitching in a relatively meaningless game for the Astros to be there for the birth. Or, like you said, maybe there’s a medical reason. Either way, the guy got permission from his team to be with his wife for his kid’s birth. Complaining from afar about it because it supposedly hurts your team just seems dumb to me. If CC has to miss a start later this year, the timing sucks for the Brewers, but congrats to him, you know?

true that

I forgot that oswalt wasn’t playing for a team that could have made the playoffs.

I do think it’s a little different if it’s YOUR team that’s in the playoff race.
