Game Thread #131: Pirates (57-72) at Brewers (75-55)

Pittsburgh Pirates at Milwaukee Brewers, Aug 24, 2008 1:05 PM CDT

Paul Maholm's pretty good.  Lucky for us, CC Sabathia is even better.

Game time is 1:05 CT, and here's the BR Game Preview.

Go Brewers!

Sooooooo...

6 pitch first inning = 54 pitch CG?

by Wayfaerer on Aug 24, 2008 1:11 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Bloop single

dangerous with 2 outs and the runner going on contact. Hopefully CC can get Rivas here.

Cubs game

does anyone know what the delay was? There is no score and the game was scheduled for a 1:00 start but the first inning just ended.

by molitorfan on Aug 24, 2008 1:37 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Cubs started at 1:20

They’re right on schedule.

CC

doesn’t look like he has his best stuff today. Not really pounding the strike zone.

by Wayfaerer on Aug 24, 2008 1:37 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

maybe he was up late

watching the Redeem Team win gold.

by molitorfan on Aug 24, 2008 1:42 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

He was wearing a Spain hat while doing it to repay Lebron.

is it just me or does rickie weeks swing and miss at more pitches right down the middle of the plate then any other guy I have ever seen?? maybe its just that I don’t like him

I wonder

if anyone’s ever suggested to Weeks that he might benefit from a longer/heavier bat. I know it will mess with his timing a bit but he doesn’t keep the bat in the hitting zone very long and seems to pop a lot of balls up off the end of the bat.
