Brewers players on the list:

Omar Aguilar
Mat Gamel
Jeremy Jeffress
Alex Periard
Angel Salome
David Welch
Brae Wright

You'll notice the absence of Michael Brantley, which is strange considering his agent said he was going to be on the team. I don't know if that's related to the epic ongoing Sabathia PTBNL saga or what.

Link to the agent thing doesn't work

The PDF that has the rosters in it (from the Brewerfan link) says:

To be eligible, players on Minor League disabled lists must be activated at least 45 days before the conclusion of their respective seasons.

Brantley was on the minor league DL from July 22 to August 2, but the Stars season ends on September 1. Does that mean he’s actually ineligible since he came off the DL only 30 days before the end of the season? Or do they count minor league playoffs as part of the season? The other thing I could think of is that refers to players who started the year on the DL.

Ah, the consequences of having no control key

Thanks, I fixed the link. I don’t know about the DL thing; I’ll ask. Brantley’s agent has since posted on Brewerfan saying Brantley is still going.

How long does Brantley's agent remain a reliable source?

He said Brantley wasn’t involved in the Sabathia deal, when it turns out he’s a potential PTBNL. He said Brantley’s going to the AFL, but he wasn’t named on the rosters and may be ineligible.

Neither of these seems like an intentional attempt to mislead, but both would imply he has a tendency to speak on matters while underinformed, which is just as bad when he’s been relied on for credible information.

Hence my decision to call it "screwing around" as opposed to "in-depth study."

Well I just talked to him and he said he just shipped Brantley's stuff to Arizona

I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

I have mixed feelings about this list

I am glad to see Salome and Jeffress and I guess Gamel could use a little more seasoning but the rest of the guys are low ceiling kind of guys instead of raw talent like Cain that could really benefit. Escobar too, I know he was in the AFL a few years ago and he will probably play winter ball but I would have liked to see him get another crack at the AFL.

Aguilar and Periard aren't exactly low-ceiling prospects

Both have legitimate stuff, and Aguilar in particular has shown an ability to miss bats. If he can refine his breaking ball, he could be a late-inning bullpen guy.

I agree that it would be nice to see Cain going.
