Philadelphia Phillies at Chicago Cubs (Thurs 8/28/08)

Cole Hamels (3.20 ERA 11-8) vs Ryan Dempster (2.85 ERA 15-5)

I'd say the Phillies have about a 30% chance of an upset at Chicago, but here's praying for a miracle!

Gametime is 7:05 Central (as in now)

Phillies gamethread here

So grab a cheese steak and join them.  Or just comment here:)

P.S. Anyone know if this is carried on any of the networks or the "special" channels?

Doesn't appear to be a whole lot of activity on the Phillies thread :)

I would’ve advised the faithful to follow Jeremy Jeffress in his AA start, but sadly, it’s already over- he got pulled after only 2 outs in the top of the first; gave up 6 hits and 6 earned runs.

ouch

that sucks for JJ

I didn’t wish to refer you all to the Cubs thread, because we know how THAT would go down:P

I have it on WGN here in Madison

"He's been very, very impressive," Yost said. "I mean really impressive. I mean really, really impressive."

On the plus side, someone will dramatically over pay for him next, which is a good thing as long as it’s not the Brewers.

that's a lot

He is smug. I have to say, I am impressed by how many guys he gets out without throwing strikes.

MLB gameday

It stopped working on Safari. They also killed the 2007 version which you could get to by fiddling with the url. So I go to look how the Stars and Gamel and the team are doing, click on gameday, and the friggin’ 2007 version is there and it works.

No real way to get to MLB and not much hope of a response. Why must bureaucracies be se bureaucratic? Maybe I should stop by Bud’s office.

Yes

This is the second season (I think) that the Triple-A Gameday has used the previous year’s MLB Gameday version. But it’s a different installation, so deactivating the v2007 at mlb.com has no bearing on what’s on the minor league site.

***sigh***

Gam trying to make it hard for the Brewers to bring him up, 0-3, 3 Ks. Hopefully he at least puts a ball in play. He fouled off a bunch of pitches, but still.

I know

There are things I prefer about the 2007, but all in all the 2008 is a remarkable product. I just want one to use. In the next day or two, I’ll have to do some hard drive housekeeping and install firefox.

I use Safari on a Mac at work

and gameday works fine…most of the time.

Rollins sac fly scores another

Soriano still does that idiotic bunny hop, even though runners are tagging at 2nd and 3rd.

you’d think he would have stopped after the injury

When you walk Pedro Feliz

You’ve really lost something on the mound.

Burrell flies out to the warning track to end the inning. Dempster done at 114 pitches I would assume.

Yipes

I thought Clayton Kershaw was pretty impressive. He started tonight and didn’t last long against the Nats. Nats leading Manny and the boys 11-2.

Phils trying to make me feel better about our bullpen

Madsen gives up a HR to the wee Frenchman, Fontenot, a double to Soriano and a single to the medium sized Frenchman, Theriot.

Now 4-2 with men on 1st and 3rd with no out.

This game about to go boom…

I can't bring myself to root for the Cubs...

…. but I won’t be sorry if the Phillies lose either. I just don’t think the Brewers are going to run Chicago down, and the Phillies are 3rd in the WC race….

True.

He’s probably sending ARam an angry text right now.

Because he respects the game.

the Cubs won 100 years ago so they’ve “won something.” Maybe he’s allowed to go all ghettolicious.

tells us ex-Cubs would like to see the team go all the way…

by ol Pete on Aug 28, 2008 9:55 PM CDT reply actions

Utley and Burrell with fly outs. Now its up to Howard.

Kasper with another shocker – Howard can be struck out.
