I’d totally photoshop that, but I’m lazy.
Good to see Rick do well, hopefully it’s a sign of things to come?

Page me...
when he makes a big play against the Cubbies…till then, he’s moved up from my shit list to the minor animosity list. I have a long memory…
Related story: I was watching Packers family night and James Jones was mentioned. I turned to the future Misses and asked, “I have a vague feeling of dislike for him, why is that?”
She said, “I think he had a couple fumbles in a game once.”
So that’s what you’re dealing with Rickie…

You need to lighten up.
Jones had a very good rookie campaign for an NFL WR.

He did fumble twice in a game.
Against the Bears too, if I’m not mistaken. The Packers just couldn’t find a way to beat ‘em last year.
Remember the game with all the punts, and John Ryan kept dropping the snaps?

Coop must be taking lessons from Yost
He let Backe give up 11 ER before taking him out (including an 8 run third)...
Ryan Braun: He loves it.

He had a short bullpen
Being down two relievers means the starter has to go as long as he can, even if he’s getting pounded.

Not to be a jerk...
... but if we’re going to evaluate by small sample sizes doesn’t that mean that before today’s 4 hit performance Weeks was batting about .250, though admittedly with a similar slugging and OBP?
I’ll admit I’m an anti-Weeks guy at this point but I’d be happy to shamelessly jump back on his bandwagon if he closes out this year like he did last. Most of my complaints (at least the ones I can remember) about him post allstar break have been centered on his defensive miscues, particularly the disaster in the Chicago series opener.

A little better than I had thought and certainly better than his season numbers.

Rickie Weeks’ OBP: .335
Corey Hart’s OBP: .323
Rickie Weeks FRAR: 12
Corey Hart’s FRAR: 3
Ray Durham’s FRAR: 2
He’s not THAT bad. Granted he’s miles behind in .EQA of those two(Weeks: .266, Hart: .288, Durham: .294 with San, .211 with Mil) but also miles ahead of Bill Hall (.250 EQA, 0 FRAR, .294 OBP) and Jason Kendall (.241 EQA, .325 OBP). He’s so far been a league average player coming off a not terrible month(.250/.344/.425) at a time last year when he became on fire. An offensive month that Alcides Escobar can only hope to come close to consistently maintaining as his peak translation (.308/.348/.421) is even with Weeks’ OPS for the month of July.
Let’s now take a look at WARP3 for Everyday Brewers + Durham coming into today:
Braun: 10.6
Hardy: 8.0
Fielder: 7.9
Hart: 5.6
Kendall: 5.4
Weeks: 4.7
Cameron: 4.4
Durham: 3.9
Hall: 1.6
Weeks is actually worth more wins than Cameron and Durham and Hall and is less a win behind Hart and Kendall. There are bigger problems on this team Rickie Weeks.
Is he underperforming? Absolutely. His 50th percentile PECOTA was .262/.364/.449. But he, like TheJay pointed out, has been nothing short of wonderful since the All-Star break and, like last year, we could be in line for a very nice progression to the mean for the rest of the year that will give Braun and Fielder that many more opportunities to produce runs.

you make fine points
but…FRAR is basically garbage. Replacement level is way too low, and it doesn’t use the same level or quality of data that BIS/THT stats do.
Also, cheese.

WARP3 does prove the point that he doesn't suck that much
and that’s what we’re aiming for. Basically, it’s not a Rickie Weeks is teh suck situation

I think everyone knows that he is talented and has been performing well as of late. The fear of a critical error or a long series of ugly Ks still lingers though.

Thanks for the point towards RZR/OOZ...
...I hadn’t looked that much at them at all beyond a cursory glance at the beginning of the season.
So, looking at:
RZR/OOZ:
Weeks: .805/25
Hart: .903/44
Durham (With San): .768/8
Durham (With Mil): .941/1
Hall: .703/18
Yeah, perhaps it was a bit unfair to Corey Hart. My apologies to Mr Hart and his children. And, a quick look at NL-wide and MLB-wide ratings shows Weeks to be in the bottom half. Which I don’t think any of us would dispute. Like jihad said, we’re just trying to show he’s not BAWGAWD awful.

not *trying* to be a contrarian jerk here
...but RZR/OOZ can’t be compared across positions. It’s one major drawback of the THT defensive data presentation, and one that I’ve discussed with the powers that be over there. More in Studes’s article here.
Also, cheese.
