uh oh
Ned goes salty over questions about Gagne making an 0-2 pitch.

Also made it sound as if Ben was just a little tight and he took him out as much as a precaution.

He can loosen up with Kirbir anytime.
BCB's "very own marginally deserving all-star!"

Did they have no concept?

Kind of went there. In case you didn’t know, only special people play at that level.

The phillies are losing 3-6 right now
So hopefully they keep sucking so that we’re only five and a half games back

WSSP
Tim is upset that Kendall set up mid height and inside on Delgado on the 0-2 pitch. My recollection is that Kendall called for the high hard one up the middle. Anyone else?
Sparky, loopy as ever, thinks that Gagne has been fabulous as an 8th inning guy.
by ol Pete on Sep 1, 2008 4:39 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
He has been fabulous.
For the other team, that is.

So if Sheets misses his next start, do we get DiFelice instead?
(I’ll be at the game on Saturday. This is important.)

Seeing inside the mind of Yost is too much to ask
but maybe

hey
maybe McClung – I forgot about him
by ol Pete on Sep 1, 2008 5:50 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Don’t fret, Ned forgot about him too.
(I didn’t, but you know; must be realistic about his future with the organization, etc.)

Nice try
we all know that you’re actually McClung.
Sat: George 2 (37, missed catch, fielding) Fri: George (35, throw) Tues: George (34, throw)

McClungko?

Gagne's ERA is over 6
Maybe it’s about time we stopped bringing him into close games.
I say we de-Mota him.

Now agreeing with a caller that criticizing Yost for relievers that blow up is wrong, because all relievers go through a “patch.”
Caller thought Ned did well at using the bullpen. What a surprise, he drinks milk with his dinner.
My patch is going on decades…

Now another caller thinking Gagne is good stuff and everybody should stop picking on Yost and the question of the day, what do you drink with your dinner, this guy drinks lots and lots of milk. What the hell?

Heh
Wouldn’t it have been hard for him not to be better?

For those keeping track
With Tony Gwynn Jr.‘s appearance today, that’s 21 games with the Brewers for Gwynn vs. 18 for Rivera… and 16 for Gabe Gross.
Of those three gentlemen, the one who spent most of the season at AAA has the fewest starts (6), while the one who’s spent most of the season in first place is only one behind Rivera in Brewers starts (14 to 13).

now a wild pitch
and then he combines with all-star catcher to flub the play at the plate
3-0 now

Brohm
the worst QB in the NFL is now third string. At least we get some good sports news today:

So...
Varitek hit his 12th HR today. He’s equally as bad on offense as Kendall, right? Could you imagine if we could have gotten 12 HRs out of Kendall? That’s like 2 extra wins minimum, right?.
Jeezaloo.

So this has been bothering me all day
The team now has two LOOGYs in the bullpen, and each of them are brought in to face switch hitters? Is there a concept that I’m missing?
by Getting Yosted on Sep 1, 2008 10:43 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
FWIW
Looking at the play-by-play, Shouse was brought in to retire LH batter Delgado with runners on the corners and two out. He was probably left in to face a switch-hitter (who hits pretty much the same against LHP and RHP) to start the next inning because there were lefties up second and fourth in the inning.
