we will always have august
kind of like casablanca… they had paris… we had august

Again for anyone interested in torture
Zambrano working on a no-hitter at MP
Go Cubs, get a hit Astros!
Sat: George 2 (37, missed catch, fielding) Fri: George (35, throw) Tues: George (34, throw)
3 outs away :(
9th: Quintero or PH, pitcher PH, Erstad. Has there ever been a more depressing sequence?
Sat: George 2 (37, missed catch, fielding) Fri: George (35, throw) Tues: George (34, throw)

Yeah, Zambrano is working on a no-hitter

Back to Yost....
Managers are not window dressing. Managers have to produce at managing, don’t they?
I don’t see a lot of lame-brain second-guessing here at BCB over the months and years. I think those of us who hang out here regularly are pretty damn good at spotting Yost’s gaffes. They cost this team games sometimes. Too often, imo.
But the bigger question is: What does the manager do when practically the whole team seems to have lost its wits, as this team has done? Yost needs to pull something out of his ass now. That’s what he’s getting paid to do.
Anyone can "stick with his players." Sorry, but that’s the coward’s approach. The owner and GM need to have a sit-down with Yost tomorrow, imo.
(I’m a former mid-level administrator and have the bumps to prove it.)

If you're keeping score
- Number of wins out of 14 September games thus far: 3*
- Number of wins in our last 9 games against .500+ teams: 1
(*of which 10 were at home, and 7 were against sub-.500 teams)

Why does it have to be at Miller Park, too… I hate the Cubs.
We've got uniforms and everything, it's really great!
The only solution for this is for one of the Brewers to do the same thing on the next homestand.
Unfortunately I can’t think of a single one who could.
Carlos Zambrano tosses NO-HITTER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Milwaukee for loaning us your ballpark !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This isn't 1969...is this 1969?...this isn't 1969, is it?
Well at least he did not have to do it in that dump you call a ball park

Don't worry
We’ll leave Miller Park in nice shape so you can have nice funeral procession when you get back in town !!!!! You just got YOSTED !!!!!!

Just remember how much sweeter this will make the Cubs playoff collapse
If Loving CC is wrong I do not want to be right
Hmm
So you spend the last inning of your team pitching a no hitter waiting on a rival team’s message board with your finger over the enter key?
Yeah, that’s a real baseball fan…
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
He's from Northern Illinois University
where having emotional problems is pretty much endemic. (look it up)

Just want to say
MDBNIU isn’t held in high regard where I come from AND bashing on NIU like that is incredibly rude. My honor student sister was under a desk locked in a classroom in the building next door to where that psycho killed people. She now lives off campus and has surprisingly done well with it. Lots haven’t. Find a better way to vent your anger.

Here is an idea you and your honor student sister can go over to the other BCB
And take your buddy MDBNIU, we are not the bad guys here we did not go looking for trouble it came to us.
If Loving CC is wrong I do not want to be right
Too bad MDBNIU
wasn’t under a desk. Maybe he/she would have a bit more respect for the feelings of others. He/she has only words here. Same for me. I choose not to ignore assholes who start taunting during our collective misery here.
May the Tribune fail, may Wrigley Field be torn down and the Cubs move to Mexico City.

Wow
talk about super hateful people here. I know all about misery, I am a Cubs fan afterall, but I don’t wish those things on the Brewers or their fans even when things have been the bleakest for the Cubs.

There's no need to bring NIU into this....
act like an adult who (hopefully) has their head on straight.
DeRosa: And who is the best and who is the worst card player?
Dempster: I think the best is yourself. [ . . .] I think the worst player is D-Lee. I think he bets every time just to bet.
You should win an award for most bizarre reasoning
Trolls that are regulars on bleedcubbieblue are routine here. When I read over there, they fit right in and are often popular. My favorite is the guy laughing it up over Gallardo’s injury.
Did you really mean to say that?
Not good at all.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
Wow....
You’re sad.
Baseball aside, get your head out of your ass.
DeRosa: And who is the best and who is the worst card player?
Dempster: I think the best is yourself. [ . . .] I think the worst player is D-Lee. I think he bets every time just to bet.
I read about this thread on bleedcubbieblue. . .
Please (please) don’t feel that trolls like MDBNIU represent the majority of Cub fans. I, for one, hope that the Brewers can turn it around and make the playoffs. You have become rivals, not enemies, and our proximity only serves to make our rivalry more interesting and fun.
The National League will be much better represented by your lineup (frightening) and two brilliant aces. Best of luck to all of you.
I admit
I’m biased, having been on the Fire Ned Yost bandwagon for some time.
Still, I’d like someone to interview Doug Melvin tomorrow, and get him to say that he believes Ned can turn this team around. If he can do it without laughing, he is not someone to play poker against.
Doug…it’s time. Remember, you traded Matt LaPorta and other pretty well-regarded prospects to make a playoff run in 2008. Next season, we’re not likely to have either CC or LaPorta. It’s not too late to salvage the season and make the playoffs…

Will Zambrano's no no be the curse for the Brew Crew
The curse for Milwaukee which we will be referring to in 2082?
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
We need something to blame this on
sadly, we don’t have a goat.
Sat: George 2 (37, missed catch, fielding) Fri: George (35, throw) Tues: George (34, throw)
Zambrano looks great in Miller Park
Thank goodness he won’t have to pitch there in the postseason.
(Sorry folks, I’m depressed)

I don't really mind the Zambrano no hitter
I mean, they tossed a guy out there with a “sore shoulder” that many scouts believe should’ve been sat for the rest of the year, and let him throw 110 pitches. Good for the Cubs. The funny thing is, you can just see the class of Cubs fans. Cleveland fans came on here (and in many other places) and thanked the Brewers/their fans for letting them use Miller Park. Cubs fans come on and talk shit. They’ll choke, just like us right now….that I’ll also admit.
This simutax makes me feel like a koala bear crapped a rainbow in my brain!
I was there and did see signs thanking the Brewers.
But I think there is enough people without class in both fan bases, judging by some of the comments on this sight.
That's probably true
Then again, if we decided to count the classless BCB fans on each side, I’m thinking we could that ratio to reenact the Battle of the Alamo. What do you figure, 10 Cubs asshats for every Brewers asshat?
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
As a "classless" fan, speaking
to the world, I don’t ever go to another sports site, period. I say stay in my own neighborhood and focus on the team I root for. I stay in my own state, too. (Cub fans, go to St Louis or vacation in Indiana, please.)
by heybatterbatter on Sep 15, 2008 11:59 AM CDT up reply actions
As a cubs fan....
I have to unfortunately admit that the ratio you just outlined is probably a little too low it should be more like 25-30 cubs asshats to every brewers asshat.
Just wait until we sweep in the final weekend to win the division
this will be looked at as the turning point!
(Yes, I’m joking, Cub trolls who want to gloat when we’re all extremely pissed)
Sat: George 2 (37, missed catch, fielding) Fri: George (35, throw) Tues: George (34, throw)
Sick
I’m just sick, knowing what has transpired today. Just sick.
"My fellow nerds and I will retire to the nerdery with our calculators."
Fun alternate universe game
Compare the response of the league and baseball press to the non-error call in Sabathia’s no-hitter to what their response would be if the same thing happened to the Cubs.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say it would be different.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
I'd have to look it up
But wasn’t Sabathia’s no hitter just before we dropped three to the Mets?
We've got uniforms and everything, it's really great!
Yep, and then a fourth consecutive loss to the Padres
We’re 3-9 since the game. If you’re inclined to look for a Bartman, there’s a good place to start.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
Wild card standings
are here, courtesy of Yahoo!
Milwaukee Brewers: 83-67, TIE
Philadelphia Phillies: 83-67, TIE
Houston Astros: 80-67, 1.5 GB
St. Louis Cardinals: 78-71, 4.5 GB
Florida Marlins: 77-72, 5.5 GB
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
Really, there is hope
It’s tough to not get down on the squad now, but the Phillies could pass up the Mets and leave us to just jockey with the Astros, and I feel pretty good about our chances with a 1.5 game lead against them.
Sat: George 2 (37, missed catch, fielding) Fri: George (35, throw) Tues: George (34, throw)
The Mets?
The Mets are 1 game up on us right now. Admittedly, if either the Mets or Phils started tanking (assuming, you know, that we started winning), we’d be in decent shape; however, I’d rather be tied than have to make up the game in the standings.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
Plus, don’t the Phillies face mostly bad teams from here out?
We've got uniforms and everything, it's really great!
Yup
6 against the Braves, 3 against the Fish, and then closing the season against the Nationals.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
The Mets
have 4 against the Nationals and 3 against the Braves, but then 7 on the road against the Cubs (4) and Fish (3).
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
Brewers have Pirates, Reds, and 6 Cubs games that don’t mean much for Chicago. It’s certainly not impossible, I don’t think the entire lineup minus Weeks/Durham are going to stay cold for the entire month. And Prince is kinda getting hot.
Sat: George 2 (37, missed catch, fielding) Fri: George (35, throw) Tues: George (34, throw)
"And Prince is kinda getting hot."
So how long HAVE you been in prison?

Fucking Brewers
Hmmm..been saying that for 20 years. Fuck shit damn. And the a no hitter?
WHY WERE THE CUBS AT MP? Disgusting. There was no where else? Really?

It's one thing to watch a lousy Brewer team play...lousily
(if that’s a word)
But watching a good Brewer team underachieve at pretty much the worst possible time…ugh ugh ugh.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
I miss Chris Magruder,
Trent Durrington, Victor Santos, Brooks Kieschnick, Curtis Leskanic, Reuben Quevedo, Chad Moeller, and Chris Barnwell.
Sat: George 2 (37, missed catch, fielding) Fri: George (35, throw) Tues: George (34, throw)
Are any of them still playing in the majors?
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
Moeller was a backup for the Yankees for a while
Victor Santos was around last year. Chris Barnwell still has to be convinced by immediate family members that he actually played in the majors.
Sat: George 2 (37, missed catch, fielding) Fri: George (35, throw) Tues: George (34, throw)
Santos could have done what Suppan did today for a lot less
If Loving CC is wrong I do not want to be right
Thinking Positive
If the Brewers win every game from here on out, they’ll at least tie for the wildcard.
We've got uniforms and everything, it's really great!

For what it's worth...
I’m a Cubs fan and I’d like to apologize for the guys that feel it’s necessary to come on here and gloat-no matter how it might sometimes seem, that kind of classless behavior doesn’t represent all of us.
You have no concept. :)

Thanks Milwaukee for the hopsitality
Great ballpark you got up there, couldnt have been a better backdrop for Z’s no hitter
wow.
well; i cant believe all of that happened. a total nightmare. yost’s comments are just as stupid as they always are. “There’s no doubt in my mind that we can get it turned around,” said Yost. “We’ve just been going through a rough stretch. You don’t give up. You keep pushing until you break through.”
Does he ever admit a mistake? ever? how would you deal with this kind of person?
what a terrible day to be a brewer fan. i am still a brewer fan; and want them to pull this off. but i have to say; if we do pull this off we still need a new manager. you dont leave shouse in there; and you dont trot out the same lineup that just got killed in the first game of a double header.
it is almost fitting that big z pitched a nono today in our park. it literally couldnt get any worse than that. but; let me say; they havent won anything yet. they are a great team; and have killed the brewers this season; but lets see how the whole season plays out. i could see them lose to the angels or the red sox. in any event; this is a brewers board.
it was a tough day. lets see how this plays out. hopefully with simba at the helm. i mean seriously, let gamel get a start (or get a meaningful AB) and shake it up a bit; it would be new energy. remember when braun was called up for the first time? this series would have been a great time to see what this kid gamel can do.
Welcome to the wonderful world of stupid managers....
the cubs had two in a row in Don Baylor and Dusty Baker…. good luck to your team for the rest of the year.
"remember when braun was called up for the first time?"
Tee hee. They lost five of six. ;-)
Doesn’t mean I disagree with you though.
