As weird as it sounds, he wouldn’t be a bad choice for a team in perpetual state of losing like the Crew was in 02. The key is to fire him before they get in a playoff run.

I would only add that it used to bother me that he would let a pitcher like CV or someone like that bat for himself in a later inning (6th?), and then after a walk or cheap single promptly pull him thereby defeating the purpose of getting extra out of him and losing the offensive upgrade the previous inning.

He acted like a child in wildly changing his lineups last year, and then because of the negative perception setting his lineup in stone this year; both instances disregarding sanity.

Weeks would start and play and play and start because he “scored runs”, and Ned failed to realize that our best offensive players batted immediately behind Weeks and since Weeks was just fast those created runs had little to do with any intrinsic talent in the run scoring department by Rickie.

And seriously the whole “Bushie” & “Shousie” & “Braunie” shi+ was just tired and dumb. If some of us feel that way, imagine the players who probably heard that crap like 700 times a day every day.

Everything else (and probably this stuff too) has already been said. This is 2 years overdue. I wish I could sign this like 100 times.

Kudos to Mark A. for showing some backbone; a losing environment should NEVER be acceptable at any level of competition. Hopefully the message is loud and clear up and down the orginization, from the peanut vendors to Moustache himself. Do better, or stop getting paid. Most jobs in America work like that. I sincerely hope this was done in the interest of winning and changing the losing culture, rather than to sell more season tickets or ramp up demand for playoff tickets.

and 1. I thought Nedly was very mediocre. We coulda done worse, we coulda done better. It woulda been hard to fire him after a spectacular August. There’s nothing to lose now.

The pieces are in place here for a championship team. But somebody’s got to recognize that championships are won w/ DEFENSE, Pitching, and power arms in the pen. Now may not be the time to call for the replacement of Rickie’s iron glove with a guy who plays with leather, but that time is coming soon…
