when did the Crew
sign Prince Sabo to play first?
what else could happen?
Packers go 17-0? That is the only thing that would make up for this collapse
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
As sweet as that would be
I still don’t think that would help me recover from a season ending meltdown two years in row.

I really don’t want to have to change my username…. this is killing me
i mean 18-0

Hmm
If this doesn’t work out, baybe we can get Bud to switch us back over to the AL Central on the last day.

Corey Hart bunting? What?

That was a pretty pathetic bunt attempt

was I the only one
who wondered if JJ would make it to third when I saw that ball heading for the gap?
Well the numbers are in our favor of scoring a run here
I’m sure they will find a way to f it up.
My only regret is that I have but one life to give to my blog
So I was driving home late in the game when Prince doubled and Hardy singled to follow up.
Santos provided the following commentary when Hardy was called safe:
“What!?!?”
“Why would you… WHY!?!”
“Oh.”
“Oh my God.”
Long pause, and much quieter….
“o my god.”
It’s like Hughes is in the booth with his mentally challenged ward.

After the 9th inning, I thought I'd never laugh again
Thanks for only making me wait a couple innings.
jeff: but i shudder to think of the bullpen analogy to sending the runner
You didn't hear him in the 1st inning
When Prince reached on a fielder’s choice.
“Oh my God.”
“Oh.”
“Oh my God.”
Hey, wait, that’s the exact same thing he said later in the game. Never at a loss for words, that guy….
Oh no.
It’s happening again.

I can’t bear to watch this team anymore

Disgusting
I’m glad I missed the 9th, otherwise I think it would be too much to take.

Go figure that the two least likely guys to strike out hit it right at infielders.

Kinda surprising that there was only 2 innings from McClung.
If you’re going to burn him from his start tomorrow, why not let him go as many as you need?

Don't get me wrong.
That sucked. But at least they showed some life today. I felt way worse after the Phillies series because they were playing bad, and basically lifeless baseball. This game felt more like the kind of thing that just happens in a 162 game season, rather than a demonstration that this team can’t make the playoffs.
Does that make me a Pollyanna? I guess. But I just don’t feel that badly about this one.

There's no reason to feel bad
Except for the people that HAVE to win against the Cubs. We fought hard and they got lucky.
I know for a fact that I’m a Pollyanna :)

Showed some life??!!
2nd and 3rd no outs in the 11th and you don’t score? What life is that?
Brewers fan lost in South Carolina.
How about the 22 baserunners?
Unfortunately the baseball gods stepped on our sapling and gifted yet another one to the Cubs. (Wait, does that make Counsell/Kendall baseball gods???)
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
They did play 10 other innings.
(ok, 9, cuz the 9th sucked too). How about 3 consecutive run scoring two out hits in the 6th? After last week, that’s a freaking miracle.

Who cares
about showing some life today. This is more demoralizing than getting blown out. I can only hope that a loss like that doesn’t sink the club any lower than they already are.

"I don't know about you guys, but I think it could use some more cowbell..."
I agreed with the showed some fight angle...
…but I agreed with that in the first game of this series. I don’t agree with it for the final game. We had that one in control and absolutely blew it. Giving up a 4 run lead when you have two outs in the bottom of the ninth with no one on…and when you absolutely need that win? I can’t see that as anything else but a failure. The season isn’t over…but it just got a lot harder.

The only thing that happened that really troubles me for the next 9 games is the base running.
Hardy was sent and he was out by a mile, and Hart made another out at 3rd, following up a couple of questionable stop signs earlier in the series. I don’t have much faith in our new 3rd base coach.
I have an unreasonable dislike of Bill Hall.
by Ted Simmons Speed Camp on Sep 18, 2008 5:16 PM CDT up reply actions
Why can't we get a good 3B coach?
Is it really that hard to figure out when to send and when to stop?
by Oakland Brewer Fan on Sep 18, 2008 5:17 PM CDT up reply actions
i think
…. figuring out the bullpen is a tad easier…but yes
this armchair managing thing is sure simple for all of us (me included)
There should be a minimum 105IQ cutoff for being a coach. couple that with decent visual acuity for being a base coach and up the IQ thing for the manager.
