what else could happen?

Packers go 17-0? That is the only thing that would make up for this collapse

As sweet as that would be

I still don’t think that would help me recover from a season ending meltdown two years in row.

So I was driving home late in the game when Prince doubled and Hardy singled to follow up.

Santos provided the following commentary when Hardy was called safe:

“What!?!?”

“Why would you… WHY!?!”

“Oh.”

“Oh my God.”

Long pause, and much quieter….

“o my god.”

Don't get me wrong.

That sucked. But at least they showed some life today. I felt way worse after the Phillies series because they were playing bad, and basically lifeless baseball. This game felt more like the kind of thing that just happens in a 162 game season, rather than a demonstration that this team can’t make the playoffs.

Does that make me a Pollyanna? I guess. But I just don’t feel that badly about this one.

I agreed with the showed some fight angle...

…but I agreed with that in the first game of this series. I don’t agree with it for the final game. We had that one in control and absolutely blew it. Giving up a 4 run lead when you have two outs in the bottom of the ninth with no one on…and when you absolutely need that win? I can’t see that as anything else but a failure. The season isn’t over…but it just got a lot harder.

The only thing that happened that really troubles me for the next 9 games is the base running.

Hardy was sent and he was out by a mile, and Hart made another out at 3rd, following up a couple of questionable stop signs earlier in the series. I don’t have much faith in our new 3rd base coach.

I have an unreasonable dislike of Bill Hall.

by Ted Simmons Speed Camp on Sep 18, 2008 5:16 PM CDT up reply actions

Why can't we get a good 3B coach?

Is it really that hard to figure out when to send and when to stop?

by Oakland Brewer Fan on Sep 18, 2008 5:17 PM CDT up reply actions

i think

…. figuring out the bullpen is a tad easier…but yes
this armchair managing thing is sure simple for all of us (me included)

There should be a minimum 105IQ cutoff for being a coach. couple that with decent visual acuity for being a base coach and up the IQ thing for the manager.
