WV made the playoffs so they'll play at least Wed. and Fri.
Helena’s season goes through Friday.

So what was the deal with Merklinger this season?
I realize he’s been rather disappointing compared to the post-draft hype from ‘06, but I can’t quite make sense of his season stats…ERA around 50% higher than FIP, even though the K/BB are good, he didn’t give up an inordinate amount of hits (just about one per inning) and his BABIP is only a slightly inflated .323 according to Minorleaguesplits. Just a fluky ERA season? The strange thing is that his ERA significantly outpaced his FIP both during his crappy April-June (7.46 ERA, ~5.00 FIP) as well as his much better July/August (4.50 ERA, ~2.50 FIP)…

Yeah, I'm not sure
Like Dave Bush, he seems to be prone to blow-ups.
On a related note, if I was the Brewers, I would consider skipping these older lefties (Merklinger, Chris Cody, Bobby Bramhall) right over Brevard County to Huntsville. Being lefties in a park that kills right-handed hitters, success for them at Brevard doesn’t really tell you that much about their abilities.
