Game Thread #138: Mets (77-61) at Brewers (80-57)
New York Mets @ Milwaukee Brewers
Let's try this again: Guaranteeing a .500 season on September 2 would be pretty nifty.
The matchup is Manny Parra and Jon Niese; for Parra (and everybody else), you can go to the BR Game Preview; for Niese, check out TheJay's great fanpost or Niese's MinorLeagueSplits.com page.
Game time is 7:05 CT.
Go Brewers!

Weird 'O'
I really prefer Jonathan to Johnathon (as Niece does it). His first name seems to suggest that we’re going to be subjected to a really long game, in which he goes the distance.
It also could be used to suggest a a really long + grueling visit to the bathroom. And that’s what I hope his first MLB start is like.

And "Jonathon"
The only John- I know is Johnathan Rice, who played Roy Orbison in “Walk the Line”.

From JSonline:
And here’s an interesting little development. As I write this blog, right-hander Yovani Gallardo is throwing a simulated game to a handful of Brewers hitters. Gallardo has been out since May 1 with a torn ACL in his right knee and the Brewers have maintained it is a long shot that he will pitch again this season.
But to be at the point of throwing a simulated game means he’s not that far away from being ready to pitch in games. The problem the Brewers have is that the minor league season is over and therefore he can’t go on a rehab assignment there.

btw, I have the portal demo
it came with my new graphics card, which came for free because my old one blew a bunch of capacitors
I’m not sure if it’s a demo or a full version or what, but it came with some sort of steam privileges.
I always enjoyed the original counter-strike. Are the new games as fun? Can I enjoy it with slow-ass DSL?

I like first-person-shooters
without a mess-load of weapons at any given time. Which is why I liked counter-strike.
handgun, knife, and your choice of rifle, shotgun, etc. But 3 weapons only, unlike halflife and unreal tourney where you’re carrying around 28 different weapons and running around at the speed of sound.

Leadoff HR
I believe Rickie’s HR was the first time a starting pitcher gave up a leadoff home run in his major league debut since July 30, 2006, when Reed Johnson hit a home run off the A’s Shane Komine.

That doesn't keep Ned from giving him the 8th inning over the last month of the year.
I wouldn’t be surprised, and i wouldn’t really blame him all that much, with Riske scuffling and Gagne being Gagne. I’d rather see Villy in that role personally, but it’s not like there are a lot of good choices out there after Torres, Shousey and Villy.
