Around SBN: Two Minutes Of Thunder Basketball Wins The Game

This may have already been mentioned, but it looks like the Brewers have reached a deal with the Timber Rattlers to play A ball in Fox Cities Stadium beginning in 2009.

Awesome!

We've got uniforms and everything, it's really great!

For Time Warner Subscribers

I wonder if this means we’ll get to see Rattler TV still?

Very nice

I have seen games in Beloit and Madison I will have to add Appleton to my list now.

it's a nice park.

I’ve never been to a minor league game there, but I’ve seen plenty of college ball. Definitely worth the trip (at least from Milwaukee/Madison…maybe not from New York :). )

Also, cheese.

It's always worth a trip from New York Jeff!

Nice

As a UWO student I really can’t wait for college nights next season and getting some dollar beers and dogs while watching some future brewers develop.

by pjpaulus on Sep 22, 2008 5:23 PM CDT reply actions

Sweet! Now who's going to be there next year?

As someone who lives in Appleton and actually held a job there two summers ago, it’s pretty cool news. They were quite a dead club under the Mariners, they never got any talent. What talent could we see there next year?

A lot of guys from this year's draft could be here

If they decide to start Lawrie in full-season ball, he’d probably be here- that would be awesome. Cutter Dykstra, Komatsu, Schafer for the outfield (unless Cutter gets moved to second). Odorizzi maybe, Scarpetta, Evan Frederickson. Should be awesome.

yeah...

that could be a really fun team. Lawrie might not start there, but it’s hard to imagine him spending the whole year in rookie ball.

Also, cheese.

by Jeff Sackmann on Sep 22, 2008 6:22 PM CDT up reply actions

Doesn't rookie ball start later?

Or am I just imagining that? I guess they could send him to extended spring training until rookie ball though.

My only regret is that I have but one life to give to my blog

rookie ball does start later --

after the draft.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they start him at extended spring, maybe to work with somebody on catching. They play games at extended spring, they just don’t get reported, so it’s not all that different from, say, the AZL.

Also, cheese.

As a resident of Appleton and already a semi-frequent haunter of Fox Cities Stadium...

… this is the best news I’ve had all month.

I have an unreasonable dislike of Bill Hall.

I think you're overlooking the Yost news

Agreed though, I’m in Appleton too, as are a few other people here, and it’s going to be awesome. When I used to get dragged to T-Rats games, they were so dang boring because they sucked and I didn’t care about their players (except random cheering of guys like Triunful when they were down 8, followed by funny looks up to the crowd by the players).

I was just in Appleton on Saturday

Do you plan on getting A fixed sometime this year? Not that I mind driving by Beansnappers, though it looks a lot seedier than its billboard would suggest.

Kirbir

Here’s the Beansnapper’s application, if you’re interested.

Ah yes

Hey! Ametuer (someone needs to use their stripper money to learn how to spell) night is Wednesdays, which I amazingly have off… Hmmm….

I have a feeling Jeff wouldn’t approve though.

A's been torn up, in one form or another, for two summers now. I have no idea when they'll finally finish it.

Sure

But I didn’t expect the building itself to look so much like a warehouse.

Having it right across the road from a bar is pretty funny, though.

You meant church, I'm assuming.

They’ve gotten into some fairly amusing arguments over signage over the years.

One thing I'll give Beansnappers employees...

… when they get subpeonaed, they generally show up. Unlike the denizens of Appleton’s other “gentlemen’s club”, where they give names like Bunny Johnson, provide a Milwaukee address and vanish a nanosecond after the cops turn their backs.

I have an unreasonable dislike of Bill Hall.

Have you ever wandered into the team store there?

Seen a curly haired teenager give you a friendly smile and talk Brewers? That’s me.

We're not still talking about Beansnappers, right?

Funny

I bought a WV Power hat the wrong year :)

At least I also got a Huntsville one! It’ll be fun to take a road trip up there and see our farm system in action. I think this will only add to what they had up there, should be a real fun atmosphere.
