Yes!
I am considerably poorer than I was fifteen minutes ago, but I now have tickets to the first two Brewers postseason games in National League history!

I was eyeing tickets last night...
Alas I have a wedding next summer.

$1,100 Bucks
And I’m staring at my postseason tickets for every potential playoff game at Miller Park!! I got the package in the mail a week ago but put it up on a high shelf and didn’t touch it, only to be broken into when we had clinched, and it was worth the wait!!
GO BREWERS!!
Me too
I made 8 or 9 offers to people on Craigslist between $400 and $600 for 2 tickets… and 7 accepted this morning… I had to say thanks but not thanks to 6 of the offers…
It may hurt the pocket book, but in 20 years from now, the memories will be well worth it!
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
wow, I feel better now
I think Philly tix are going for less than Milwaukee tix. Guess that makes sense, given that Philly got the playoffs last year, too, so there isn’t the sense of once-in-a-lifetime.
Also, cheese.

Yea
I just bought some tickets for Game 2 in Philly for $100 apiece (way up in the nosebleeds.) But that is a price I can handle.

Nice Work Jeff!
I have tickets for game #4 of the NLDS and game #3 of the NLCS. I’m pretty excited. For the NLDS I’m in the upper deck but row 1 right behind home plate.
Ummm…..they better not get swept, or else it’s no playoff game for me :(.

Cool!
That’s pretty much where I am in Philly. I went through stubhub, but oddly enough, I think I ended up with the same ticket for both games.
There is one advantage to living in enemy territory—I’m guaranteed two games!
Also, cheese.

This just occurred to me
If the NLCS is Brewers/Cubs, there will be way fewer Cubs fans at the Miller Park games than the usual in-season series, right?
For the players (not to mention those of us listening at home), that would have to be a good thing.
Also, cheese.
Ticket Resale
Will be insane… I’m sure tickets can probably go for a few hundred dollars. I’ll honestly consider selling a set of mine to the higest bidder to hopefully help pay for the 2 word series I will not mention. $350 (2tix) x 3 is a pretty big number.
Agreed. The money coming up from Chicago will be insane.
A friend just told me what he paid for Cubs NLDS tickets at Wrigley and it was appalling.
That said: Brew fans, resist the cash!
Tararreling our way to the finish line.
How much?
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
$600 for two bleachers.
He’s rich enough not to really care, but still. That’s a lot just for the NLDS.
Tararreling our way to the finish line.
Depends
at what price the local season ticket-holders can be bought. Cubs fans are used to paying mega-bucks for Wrigley playoff games, so I’d imagine they will not be shy about adding to the family coffers of Milwaukeans. The economy may soften the market a little bit, but if the Cubs make it that far, I’d shell out to be there.

that's true
When I saw the ticket prices for the Philly games, I started thinking about how close I could get. I’m used to looking at NYC resale prices (I actually looked into subway series tickets in ’00, but when all the prices had four digits, I thought again) … so, a couple hundred bucks for a decent ticket? Done deal.
But it sounds like Miller tix are already pricier than that, so we’ll see.
Also, cheese.

damn...if only i hadn't deferred grad school
I’d be in Pennsylvania right now, buying tickets for a road trip up to Philly.

I love it
the Brewers making the playoffs for the first time in 26 years actually has people rethinking their career moves.

or...
you’d be in Penn, pissed off that the sections you were TAing met during both of the playoff games.
(My friend who lives in philly is a PhD student, and she can’t go thursday night for that very reason.)
Also, cheese.

I'd just say
“take care kiddies, if you’ve got tickets to the game I’ll drive you and we can discuss science enroute”
screw sections;)
Actually, I’d probably do the semi-responsible thing and have someone cover for me in exchange for me covering for them the next week.

Grad student at Penn State here
I knew I chose Penn State over Virginia Tech for a reason, even if I hate my thesis and my advisor is a worthless lump.

Geoscience
Ichiro, on facing Daisuke Matsuzaka for the first time: "I hope he arouses the fire that's dormant in the innermost recesses of my soul."
oh, cool
I will be attempting to get into the Astrobiology certificate program (on top of the standard PhD program which I’m already admitted to) which crosslists between my home department, geoscience (or is it geobio?) and a couple others. I’ll be starting in Fall ’09.
so…perhaps we should exchange e-mail addresses? I’d like to learn the basics of geology/geobiology before I come out there. So, if you have any good books or articles (other than the obvious ALH84001 debate) to keep me occupied…

P.S.
feel free to tell me (or not) which useless lump you have for an advisor and if there are any other lumps to avoid;)

For those of you visiting Philly for the first time ...
… The subway there is a trip. I remember taking it late-nite from Citizens Bank after a game last year, to the train station. Saw two drunken fights in the first leg, then watched a major bootlegged DVD operation get busted by the cops while waiting to change trains. Pretty awesome.
Tararreling our way to the finish line.
Freaking Awesome!!
I was able to get tickets to a game in each series, thanks to my foresight in buying a 9 pack. I dug up some marlins hats from my childhood. After the Brewers won, my roomates and I were wearing them as we watched the Mets game.
Quite simply a memory I will not forget.
just heard
brian anderson will be the play by play guy on tbs for the brewers series
I untuck my shirt!
That guy is like herpes
You just can’t get rid of him.

I heard the Rock will be doing a podcast from his living room.
Tararreling our way to the finish line.
That would be great!
Maybe he can grill something during the game. Cornish hens, perhaps?
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
An on-grill instructional, if you will

Based on how long it took my mom to figure out Skype, I'm guessing Rock doesn't have the wherewithal to manage a video podcast
