How to pass the time on Monday
How about if we see how well we know Dale? According to a headline which points to the always-broken JS blogs, the postseason roster should be announced today. So, let's put forth some guesses!
Disclaimer - I don't know nearly as much about playoff roster rules as some other people. I'm assuming Dale can insert Stetter by taking advantage of someone's spot on the DL.

Kapler?
Anyone have an update on his muscle strain? I’d much much rather have Kapler as the 4th OF then TGJ. :(
I think your roster is pretty set, maybe we might see Sheets in, instead of Stetter if maybe they move him to a reliever roll.

Kapler, Sheets and Riske
I think these 3 are out. Even if Kapler could hit, it’s not very useful to have an outfielder that can’t throw.
As for Sheets, it’s hard to imagine that Dale would roll the dice that he might be able to throw in a couple weeks, and give up a valuable roster spot based on that.

different rosters for each series, if they want
so if they wanted to potentially have Sheets around for future rounds, they don’t have to put him on the roster now.
Also, cheese.

so you're one of those people
that knows more than me. Wiseguy, eh?
Well, I’m even more confident that this will be the roster for the first round, then.

Branyan is another spot they could use
If they wanted a fourth callup (besides Stetter, Gwynn, and Dillon) to make the squad.

I left him off because he looked gimpy
With this new information I have from Sackmann, I would definitely plan to see him if the Brewers advance to the NLCS.

I wouldn't be too upset if Dillon wasn't on that list
A .154 avg. while PH does not make me all that comfortable. I don’t know who to replace him with but he doesn’t bring that much to the table. I guess Escobar could bring his speed and maybe give us a Dave Roberts moment.

Rivera?
Sigh. Why bother…

well...
Rivera hasn’t played in case something happens to kendall. If they don’t bring him and something happens to Kendall they’ll really be screwed. Craig Counsell for catcher anyone?
In any case, lets hope they find room for salome (so Rivera could get some play time) or Escobar.

Ha
I’m inclined to believe that Rivera won’t get more than a pinch hit or two unless Kendall gets injured. That being the case, Salome would probably be a wasted roster spot.
My only regret is that I have but one life to give to my blog

Research
According to, of all things, a Mets blog:
This year the players no longer have to be on the active 25 man roster as of Aug. 31, all they need to be is on the 40 man roster. As of this year a playoff team can select any 25 players regardless of the ratio or time spent in the majors for the playoffs.
So basically anyone but Salome, Gamel, Coffey, and Lamb can be on the roster.
Despite Gagne’s excellent inning in the World Series last year (and abysmal stats for the other two rounds), I’d rather he not be on the roster. That’s not likely, though, so I’ll accept that. I mean, could we fit DiFelice on there instead?
Branyan and Kapler are each better picks healthy than Joltin’ Joe, at least as he’s played this year, but he does bring versatility. With those two probably out (though Branyan seems perfect for a sort of Kirk Gibson moment), I can’t really see who the Brewers would bring in as their next position player. Rottino? Barely played in September. Brad Nelson? No. Iribarren? He’s eligible, after all. Looks like we’re stuck with 12 pitchers.

In other MLB action today Sox 6th inning
Freddy An. Garcia pitching:
Dewayne Wise: Ball, Strike looking, Ball, Ball, Strike looking, Wise walked.
Jermaine Dye: Strike looking, Ball, Wise stole second, Armando Galarraga relieved Freddy An. Garcia [injury?], Ball, Strike looking, Ball, Wise to third on wild pitch, Dye walked, Wise scored on wild pitch.
Bobby Seay relieved Armando Galarraga.
Jim Thome: Strike looking, Strike swinging, Ball, Dye to second on wild pitch, Foul, Ball, Thome struck out swinging.
Paul Konerko: Intentional ball, Intentional ball, Intentional ball, Konerko intentionally walked.
Ken Griffey Jr.: Ball, Ball, Ball, Griffey walked, Dye to third, Konerko to second.
Gary Glover relieved Bobby Seay.
Alexei Ramirez: Ramirez homered to left, Dye, Konerko and Griffey scored.
A.J. Pierzynski: Foul, Pierzynski doubled to left.
Juan Uribe: Strike looking, Ball, Foul, Uribe grounded out to shortstop.
Orlando Cabrera: Ball, Ball, Foul, Cabrera lined out to first.
3 wildpitches, two by Galarraga (in a row).
Gameday has that clusterfuck uberclusterfucked:
Gallarga struck out Wise, got Dye to fly out, then struck out Thome, then Dye came back up and walked, with Wise scoring on the wildpitch
After that Seay relieved Gallarga and promptly threw a wildpitch, advancing Dye to second.
Then a bunch of other stuff happened presumably in order.

play-in game forced
Sox won 8-2
so I guess that delays the start of the AL playoffs

"as planned"?
All the other division series begin on Wednesday (both AL and NL)
sounds like a delay to me

TBS can only cover so many games back-to-back
Three’s the limit without starting one of them before noon ET. The Angels, as the AL team with the best record, were allowed to pick which schedule they wanted to play. They picked the ALDS series that started on Wednesday so they could have an extra off day (Thursday) during the series. That forced the Twins/WSox-Rays to play the series starting on Thursday.

I noticed on the Fox Saturday game of the week
with the Brewers vs Cubs
At the start of the broadcast, they had nominations of player-of-the-day.
The Brewers nominee: Jeff Suppan.
Not only did Jeff not play, he hasn’t been playing well this week. I noticed the same thing a week or two ago during Fox Saturday baseball (Suppan again representing the brewers, even though not playing).
What’s the deal with that? Is it just a conspiracy to get a player from the Mets and the Red Sox the nod?

Are you sure that wasn't a list of players nominated for awards related to their community work?
I know that Suppan has been nominated for a couple of awards for his work in Milwaukee and I do recall Fox soliciting votes for one of those awards in both of their recent broadcasts of Brewer games, with Suppan as the Brewers nominee.
I have an unreasonable dislike of Bill Hall.
