Winter League Update for 1/19/2009

In Mexico: Friday, Jason Bourgeois went 1-for-4 with a walk and a double, and was caught stealing in Mochis' 7-3 win over Hermosillo.

Sunday, Bourgeois went 1-for-3 and Mochis lost to Hermosillo, 5-2. Elmer Dessens, a native of Hermosillo, picked up the save.

The Mochis-Hermosillo series is tied 3-3, and Game 7 is tonight.

In Venezuela: Friday, Brendan Katin went 1-for-3 with a double in Zulia's 4-0 win over Lara.

Sunday, Hernan Iribarren went 0-for-1 after entering the game as a pinch hitter for Lara and Brendan Katin went 0-for-4 and struck out four times in Lara's 1-0, 10 inning win. Zulia was held hitless through nine innings by former Brewer Nelson Figueroa.

Lara and Caracas (Jorge Julio) are 7-7 and tied for third among five teams in the round robin portion of the VWL playoffs. Zulia is 5-8 and in last place.

In Puerto Rico: Former Brewers Raul Casanova, Robinson Cancel and Bill Pulsipher all played in Ponce's 2-1, 10 inning victory over Arecibo, but Charlie Fermaint and Efrain Nieves did not.
