Pitcher Hitting Values
The Statcorner/Lookout Landing crew lists the win values of pitchers last year, just based on their hitting. As we know, Zambrano is just a monster. It's interesting to note that you can probably deduct a half win or so from Sheets's value, he was the fourth worst at about -.5 wins last year. Dave Bush was down there as well, Manny Parra checked in around +.5. It's an interesting reference for the value of pitchers hitting. I was surprised that there can be a full win of difference between a good and bad hitting pitcher.

incentives
It’d be great to see a hitting incentive in the contract for pitchers. For Zambrano it could be $10k for a HR. Suppan could get money for his sacrifices (he didn’t hit, but Suppan can put bunts down).
For Ben Sheets it could be $1k for every time his bat touched the ball — that would only put the team back some $4k.
unfortunately you can't
Somebody made this comment in another post. For some reason, you cannot give performance-based incentives. You can, however, give playing time-based incentives.
For instance, you will never see a bonus for 30 saves, 40 saves, etc. You always see that bonus being given for games finished. So, I guess you could give pitchers incentives based on Plate Appearances, but that would go hand in hand with IP for starters.
I guess what it comes down to is this: If you have two pitchers with similar stats on your team fighting for a spot, they’re hitting could be a legitimate factor.
Yeah, this is part of baseball's Collective Bargaining Agreement.

I think it's actually part of the Major League Rules, not the CBA
