Rumorville: Mark Mulder
Actually, your Cream City Crushers seem determined to get an ex-Cardinal on their pitching staff:
Mark Mulder, LHP, free agent: Milwaukee and Oakland are big on the comebacking pitcher, and it appears the Sox will be watching him throw in Arizona in the next two weeks.
Mulder's stats are here. Obvious, there's concern over his injuries, with Mulder having missed most of the past three seasons. However, if you look at his last four "healthy" years, from 2002 to 2005, there's still some concern there: although his ERA looks fine, his WHIP and BAA had been on the rise each of those years. To my surprise, he turns only 32 this summer.
Speaking of injured pitchers...you don't hear much about John Smoltz nowadays.

Nick Cafardo invents one?
McCalvy writes: Mulder has pitched in just six games over the past two seasons because of shoulder woes, but he has been linked to the Brewers several times by the Boston Globe, which reported Sunday that Milwaukee and Oakland were, “big on the comebacking pitcher.”
Not so, at least from Milwaukee’s standpoint.
“I really haven’t contacted his guy [agent Gregg Clifton],” Melvin said.

Is it just me,
or does the Boston Globe seem to get things wrong a lot?

I think their percentage is ok
but since Boston is bb-crazed, they pass along more total rumors than most papers.
Maybe the Globe just has a really really bad Brewers source :).
Also, cheese.

Covering Wisconsin the way the media won’t - covering the media, the way they fear!
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"

Maybe you’re right. Maybe it is a percentage thing. But I think it’s just that the name, BOSTON GLOBE is so easy to remember, compared to a reporter’s name. It’s gotten to the point where I, probably unfairly, immediately search for a second, confirming source when I read something from the globe.
And I’m not sure if it’s just limited to the Crew, as I feel like i’ve read a whole slew of reports that were just bogus. Or maybe… they have no brewers source at all. Hell, no sources period.
