A quick rant that has nothing to do with anything.
Some breaking news into SportsCenter at this 2 o'clock Eastern Time hour...as we've been reporting...Here's a rule I'd like to establish for all sports reporters anywhere: If you've already reported something, if you've been reporting something or if something was already breaking news an hour ago but you're repeating it for the fifth time anyway, it is no longer breaking news, and you don't need to imply people should drop everything to come see it again.
That's all. Just needed to vent for a moment.

Noticed this the other day
On the “bottom line” feature.
It said something like: Breaking News: Eagles defeat Vikings. This was a good 2+ hours after the game had ended.

just wait until they start turning on the blogosphere
People have already ripped to shreds the mainstream media, they can’t wait to turn on the new media

I knew you were going to say that.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"

ESPN
is the worst about this. Everything is breaking news no matter how old it is.

ESPN
…really just sucks at reporting, and really not reporting(a la Brett Favre talking to the Lions), in general. They have a general condensed version of what can be found at great sites like this.
Also Pacman Jones being released isn’t news, let alone BREAKING NEWS.

Au Contraire
if a Dallas Cowboy drops a deuce, it’s breaking news. Same thing with any Yankees, Red Sox, Lakers, or Celtics. Seriously, do you remember the season starter last year when the headline story was that Sean Casey will miss the entire Japan series? HE WAS A BACKUP!!! WHY IS IT BREAKING NEWS IF THE RED SOX BACKUP 1B WILL MISS 2 GAMES?!? Seriously…

I have to say...
ESPN is really good at swooping in and yoinking scoops from teams’ beat writers.
Typical example: When Nebraska football coach Bill Callahan was on the chopping block at the end of the 2007 season, the beat writers from the Omaha and Lincoln papers were following the situation obsessively—their beat pretty much became “Callahan Death Watch” for two days. And somehow ESPN, which does original reporting on the Huskers approximately once a year, breaks his firing about 20 minutes before anyone else.
How do they do this? I don’t know. But it happens all the time.
