Not a surprising move
Interesting timing though.

Well, minor league contracts expire soon.
So, if you’ve got a guy you want to add to your 40 man to prevent it, it has to happen now. This might free up a spot for Heether.
That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.

That seems pretty logical to me
I don’t have a category for "washed-up guys who may or may not be dominant big-league closers sometime soon."

According to Haudricourt's updated post ...
Burns had to be outrighted now because of his bum shoulder:
Ash also said there is a "window’ after the season in which injured players can be outrighted to the minors. Otherwise, you can’t remove injured players from your roster.

So do we retain his rights? or does he have 10 days to accept the assignment/opt for free agency?

Burns was fired?
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
