Tuesday's ALCS Game Thread
Hey, there's more playoff baseball tonight! If you've got four hours to kill, it could be a good time.

Kazmir
It would be nice if he pitched well on the day the guy who “fixed” him is hired.

Kazmir? Against an AL East team?
I don’t know whatever could go wrong.
(Not seeing anything unusual out of him, other than seeing him out of a Rays uniform is just wrong, I’m sorry)

Is it wrong that I'm really hoping that Sabathia has one of his pre-2009 playoff meltdowns?
Personally, I don't give a crap about Brett Favre.

I appreciate your tenacity.
A winner has been selected and notified.
That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.

I don't know
but the Redskins now have a bingo caller running their offense.

Officiating
Well, the umps blew two calls in the same inning. The announcers are all over Tim McClellaland (sp?) for missing the call on Swisher’s foot at third.
Did they completely forget about the play just a batter earlier where Swisher was clearly picked off of 2nd? Judging by the crowd’s reaction, they clearly have access to instant replays (a courtesy not displayed at Miller Park for close calls, and rightly so if you see it from the umpire union’s point of view). This would mean that McClelland could also see it and know that the call was blown.
So my question is, was he attempting to ‘correct’ the game by calling Swisher out? Is a make-up call there the right move? Why continue to play the game if you’re going to intentionally make incorrect calls? If the umpire knew of the bad call because of replay, why don’t they just use replay?
Personally, I think it’s less than a decade away. With this pitch-tracking technology live on screen emerging, it’s only giving this movement to limit umpires steam. It’s only a matter of time!

I don't know if an umpire would make a make-up call
considering one umpire will consistently back up an umpire who made an initial call for pride. The ratio of games: blown calls this postseason must be around 1:1, it’s just awful.
I forget how much I enjoy watching the Buck/McCarver team work, though. Before the game, the keys to the game were:
Yankees: CC stands for Confidence, Confidence
Angels: Something about momentum
I mean you can’t think of two different words that start with C? Goodness.
